Sometimes when using the button to open the rear hatch it wants to start going back down and not stay up. Sometimes it just goes up fine and then other times clicks and just hangs loose. Any suggestions on how to fix this if it can even be fixed????

Grand Caravan V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

The rear lift gate latch will not engage when the doors are unlocked. The only way to open the back lift gate is to use the key and manually unlock the door. Recommended repair by the dealer was over $1000, we opted out and just use the key to open it.

This is a pain due to the fact that it only started the day i was to give the van to my sister, because of the disability she has this is very important to fix, My local dealer doesn't think it is that big of a deal... considering I have bought five vehicles from them you would think they would take my $ and rectify this issue, NOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Does any one know what is my best plan of attack????
