CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

First the master cylinder went, then the brake booster and now the hydrolic control unit. Eachpart more expensive thenthe last and the last being $2119.20 to repair. The entire braking system, parts I was told should not break. I have been told, by a reputable mechanic that often when replacing the brake booster, the lines are improperly bled andair gets into the hydraulic system. Upon farther research on line into the issue, there are page after page of the same complaint.

Brake booster recall symptoms described in publicized notices, including on this website, are what I am currently experiencing on my Ford Edge. Car takes longer to stop and braking system feels soft. Additionally, the advancetrac warning system light illuminates on occasion when car is in park for 10-20 minutes without moving, with engine running. Per the Ford forum, this is a common problem that does not seem to have a solution from Ford. I have lost confidence the Ford is interested or able to remedy either of these issues. I am afraid to drive it now that braking issue started today.

Takata recall my passenger side "door ajar" light stays on at all times. This causes my battery to drain and prevents the car from locking. It also keeps the dome light on while driving which is a problem when driving at night. The doors will not lock which makes it very unsafe when in public - my children are in the car but it will not lock until it is driven for a distance. This does not help in a parking lot when car refuses to lock due to a bad sensor. Now, my driver's side door is starting to alert that it is ajar. Both doors are always closed. The driver's side door again, will not allow the car to lock and alerts me to shift my vehicle into park. This cycles 24 hours a day. My lights will randomly come on for no reason other than a bad sensor saying doors that are shut - are "ajar". this has left me on more than occasion with a dead battery. This most certainly is a safety issue concerding the doors are designed to lock automatically when driving - and they will not due to this problem. I will never buy another Ford again unless this is fixed. I am requesting this be recalled as it is a known problem. I was advised it could be fixed - but it will return. I do not have the funds as a single mother to do so. Please Ford - take care of this problem.

My Ford Edge shut down while driving down the road. It just shut off. You have to put it back in park in order to start it again. This happened while going to the in our town store. I am so relieved it was not while on the freeway. Had I been on the freeway, going at fast speeds, if the cars behind me were not paying attention I could have been hit, or worse killed. When I took it to the shop I found out that it is a known problem. It's technical service bulletin 15-0178, issued on Nov 2015. What I don't understand is why there's not a recall" is someone going to have do die first" attached is the service recall. I've contacted Ford, spoken with evergreen Ford in issaquah (where my car currently is) and filed a complaint with the attorney general here in Washington state.

I get ready to start my day as usual I go and start my vehicle (stationary) to warm it up, as I got ready to set the temperature in the SUV I noticed the bottom touch panel did not light up. So I pushed the button to turn off the heat that was blowing and it didnt turn off, I tried and again and nothing. Its to hot in Texas with little children to have electrical problems that effect the air conditioning. I pushed other buttons to see if anything worked and still nothing, the hazard lights will not function nor will the electric windows. My family and I drove the vehicle to my destination afterwards I had the fuses tested they are good, but was told it is front interface control module. This is my only vehicle and hopefully a Ford dealership can give a better diagnosis than auto part store.

While driving the vehicle sensor staying "low engine oil pressure" appeared on the dash, while at tree same time the lights flickered, the vehicle died completely, and tge steering wheel locked in place making it impossible to steer the vehicle off the main road. The vehicle had to be placed in park and re-started continuously until we reached the driveway of our home.

All doors leaking at the door seal retainers and will not be able to repair due to poor designed flaw! all Ford cars having water conditions and still allowed to sell this defective cars ! I am a master mechanic and diagnosed it my self ! this is strictly a Ford quality issue for all Ford Edges of all years and most likely all there cars have a water issue. And it is my experience that car dealers know about it and due not issue a repair because of cost! it is a sad day for american products. Forum cars built better that this! by my experience

Car has been having electric issues for a while. Usually detected once trying to start. First issue is the back up camera. That no longer works while in reverse. Screen indicated it is not available. We also recently had to replace the shifting column. After a trip of driving coming to a full stop shifting to park the car would not stay on "park". it would not catch the gear unless the button on the shift column was toyed with a few times pressing on the button so car recognizes "park". it would search for "park" when car was off which would cause the battery to eventually die. We first purchased a battery thinking it's time to replace but once we did, it killed our battery again and then is when I knew I had to take it into Ford. $700+ to fix issue currently not recalled. This also forced us to buy jump starting cables before it was taken in. Car left us stranded a few times because of this. Dead battery:( third electric issue is that the bluetooth system doesn't always catch a device. Often the sync screen on the display will pull up with a loading bar. This happens randomly when starting car at times while in part.

The door latch is faulty. It is telling me that the door is ajar when it is closed. The interior lights stay on which will cause the battery to die.

Door sensor issue that has been continuing since early 2015, not long after I bought the car. Currently my "door ajar" indicator appears even though my door is closed, even after being slammed shut. The rear driver side door along with passenger side door continue to say open after they have been closed and I am driving. While driving I cannot manually lock the door, they just automatically unlock on its own. This does not make me feel safe, especially driving with my children. His problem has caused me to replace my battery sooner than needed because the dome lights stay on for a long time, also randomly turn on in the middle of the night. I also cannot lock my doors because than the alarm goes off randomly thinking the door has been opened. So wether driving or parked, this has been a problem.

While driving on the expressway at night, the door ajar warning light appeared, indicating I should shift the car to park. Simultaneously, the interior lights came on and an alarm started chiming. My vision was impaired by the bright interior lights. After navigating through traffic I got off the highway, shifted the car to park, got out and checked doors and tailgate but all were secure. This issue occurred intermittently until I brought the car in for service under warranty. I lodged my complaint and was told it would be fixed. The condition appeared to be corrected until the car was out of warranty. I returned to the dealership with the same problem, much to my dismay I found out that only a temporary fix had been applied, the defective door latch had not been replaced, and now to fix the door latch switch was very expensive. Discontent, I returned home and researched and found my problem a popular topic. I started a complaint with Ford regional office and with NHTSA but didn't mail it in. The problem has gotten more persistent and I won't put family in the car. It has also left me stranded with a dead battery a number of times as this switch apparently controls time delayed courtesy lights to let you exit the car safely at night. The problem here is they don't shut off, draining the battery. With the number of complaints lodged regarding this dangerous condition, and quick fix albeit expensive part, I figured this to be a priority recall. This issue occurs at any given time, stationary, city streets, and at highway speeds.

A warning light is displayed stating the passenger door is ajar when it is not. The door can be repeatedly opened and closed attempting to make the warning light go off, it does not work the majority of the time. The interior lights will not go off, which makes driving a hazard. Also, the door will not look when the warning light is on. Another safety concern.

Door latch ajar warning. Doors are unable to stay locked. It is unsafe. The warning light for "door ajar" and "put gear in park" comes on nonstop while driving. The light stays on after parked for at least 20 minutes which drains battery. I went to the dealer and had to pay $615.91 to fix. I would like to be reimbursed for faulty locks. I am also afraid the other three are going to do the same thing.

Frequently a warning light will come on stating that the collision warning censor is blocked. As a result the cruise control will not work and the collision warning feature is also not working. By pressing an 'ok' button the warning light goes away and the system seems to work properly. It appears that this warning light comes on after going over a bump but not all bumps. The dealer has quoted me a price of nearly $2000 to replace the warning censor, and bracket. However, I am not convinced that the censor is defective since it often works properly.

The driver's door appears to close properly however a warning light stating that the door is ajar comes on. I open and close the 2 or 3 times with a hard slam and the light goes out. The car doors will not lock if this warning light is on. I am scheduled to have this repaired at the Ford dealer at a cost of nearly $400. The dealer has told me that this is a recurring problem on the Edge. The car has approx 42,000 miles.

My Ford Edge,2012, had a "door ajar" warning and it required slamming the door very hard to get the warning removed. My lights would stay on after I parked and again require slamming the door multiple times. My back up camera will work and then not work making that safety feature unreliable! I had the door latch replaced at a cost of 325 dollars. Other Ford products have also experienced these problems and are under a recall. I believe this issue is not the result of careless treatment by my wife or me. We are both over 70 years old.

6/24/16 took car to dealer for check engine light. Repair $329. Indicated purge valve stuck open at times. 6/30/16 check engine light again. Indicated under boost....replaced waste gate vacuum sensor. $307. Returned to dealer again for check engine light due to hose clamp loose. Began experiencing door ajar light and interior lights that don't turn off. Returned to dealer on 8/15/16 and were told the turbo assembly needs to be replaced for $2500+. could lose power and cause further engine damage if driven. Tried contacting Ford via email with no response. There are clearly safety issues and recall should be issued and repairs at Ford expense. Tired of reading of these same Ford issues but selective state and model repair.
