This the summer the light behind my gears on the instrument panel burnt out. I was told that the cost would be significant. I can see it fine in the daylight hours, but at night, I use a flashlight to make sure I am in drive

Its a real pain, in the winter it takes 15-20 minutes for the lights to come on.
In the summer it only takes a minute.
