I encountered a bad winter storm where the precip was freezing instantly to my windshield. My defrosters were on full/HOT and I was still unable to clear the windshield of thick ice. Therefore, I used the windshield washer fluid and wipers to clear the ice and regain visibility but soon ran the reservoir dry. It would have been helpful if the windshield wash low symbol light would have illuminated to alert me.
