rear camera does not turn off while driving rear camera does not turn off while driving

I am enjoying my new Ford Escape Titanium most of the time, but a couple times a week on average it is dangerous to drive because the rear camera view does not revert to the touch screen functionality when the car is in drive. During the day, this is a significant pain because the controls for audio, temperature and navigation can't be used, and the constant view to the rear is distracting. At night, it is a significant safety hazard as the internal dashboard is dominated by the headlights of cars to the rear. There seems to be no obvious pattern of time of day, temperature, etc that is associated with the fault. Once it happens, it is not easy to reset. Putting the car in park, reverse, neutral and drive again doesn't turn the camera off. Turning the engine off then on again doesn't fix the problem east her. Once the engine is off for some time, the camera and screen functions snap back into proper operation. The first time I took the car to the dealership to resolve the problem, they could not replicate the fault so did nothing to correct it. The second time, the system was rebooted. The third time, the software was updated. The problem persists. The car is at the dealership again now. The technicians appear to be baffled.
