CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2003 Honda Accord suffers from widespread transmission failure & problems with the stereo backlight failing. We recommend avoiding this model year like the plague.

The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000. Transmission failure has been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accord as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.

The stereo backlight problem has been an issue since these Accords were only a few years old. Honda eventually issued a recall which covered the repair for 7 years/100k miles, which was nice while it lasted but now that period is over. Honda initially was replacing the entire radio ($800) but eventually began replacing just the PCB which at ~$300 is much cheaper. That sounds like a deal, but keep in mind we're talking about a backlight bulb that costs $2 to fix in most other cars.

For a year in 2015, I have been reporting to Honda service dept. That my three warning lights, all in bright yellowish orange color on the dashboard always are lit on after starting the car. The symbols are ABS, triagnle with !, and tcs. I stated I am concerned for my safety and requested that lights to work properly and have it looked at. I try to remember their advisement is that its minor electronic thing and not to worry about it ( sensor or another wording). I demand that Honda to recall and fix it for free as it is not my fault that electronic thing not working. They should replace sensor or whatever they knew is the problem that I should not be charged and have it being fixed immediately for the sake of my safety! I have the picture but I cant upload here on desktop. I can provide it via email if U send me an email address after processing this complain.

First, my cd player stops working out of nowhere, which I later come to find out that they had installed an internal defective cd player. A couple of weeks after the cd player broke, my drive side door would not lock with the keyless entry or power locks. Then, a couple of weeks ago my driver side headlight went out. I got someone to change both so that one wouldn't be bright than the other, but after they were both I changed, the drive side headlight still refused to work.
