CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Honda Accord suffers from transmission failure. It's not a huge widesperad problem like in prior years, but definitely still something to consider.
The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.
Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.
My 2005 Honda Accord has peeling paint on the roof and trunk areas. It's clearly defective as I've researched this and there are many complaints online about it. I have covered parking, only wax it once a year, don't get too much bird poop on it, etc. It's not a normal aging process as I've seen the majority of older cars do not have this problem.
I have taken perfect care of this car, waxing and cleaning it regularly, but have been unable to garage it for most of its life. The paint problems are terrible and unacceptable. I was told by a body shop that the only solution would be to have it repainted. So, even though i have kept this car in as good a condition as I possibly could, the resale value has plummeted due to paint problems. Thanks, Honda.
Paint has blotches all over the car where it has completely come off of the car. Other vehicle we own for the same period of time still look good. We have seen several of these cars here in the Memphis area. Honda has not responded to any complaint or request for information and/or assistance.
A few months ago I noticed a section of the hood on the driver's side started peeling and it keeps spreading becoming larger and larger and I don't know what to do to make it stop (other than a whole new paint job, which I can't afford) as it looks really bad already. I'm disappointed that something like this would happen, as I've always thought that Honda vehicles were made well and I used to be proud to own one, now I'm embarrassed to drive it this way.
Started noticing last year that my car's paint (mainly on hood and roof) looked like someone poured acid on it. It looks terrible! Then, I started paying attention to every Accord that I saw that was the same body style as mine and noticed that they ALL seem to have the same problem!! I asked the dealer (when I was dealing with the airbag recall) if there were any recalls on the paint because I noticed it on all Accords similar to mine - and they stated there were not any recalls on the paint. This is total BS as there is no way that they all have this oxidation/peeling.
After looking at several other Honda's the same year and knowing that we always washed and waxed our car, there is no reason why the clear coat would be causing this issue unless it was a defect. I have two other cars older than this one and their paint is in showroom condition. Honda should investigate this and stand up and take the blame and fix these cars no matter if they are under warranty or not.
As when I buy a new car, which should be within the year, I will question the Honda Brand.
