My A/C unit broke AGAIN from the same stupid problem. Definitely looking into filing a complaint with the small claims court for poor design flaw.

I went to Honda, an auto repair franchise, and an independent mechanic and the diagnosis was all the same-- it's the air compressor. I was told by the independent that my car was too new for that issue to occur. It was not covered under warranty and I even checked and called Honda and there was no recall done on it. It is annoying as all hell but since it doesn't affect the functioning of the car, I've refrained from getting it fixed- I don't have $1200 to shell out!!! My air and heat both work fine but the noise has gotten to the point where it is unbearable and embarrassing. I don't understand how come Honda isn't doing something about this.

This car was my first car purchase and I love my Honda, but I do believe this will be the only one that I buy. The design is a flaw and FAIL on the end of Honda and it should not have to be an expense picked up by the consumer. I have been trying to find time w/my independent mechanic to get the issue fixed (for cheaper than the dealership or a franchise shop) b/c I cannot take my car sounding so terribly anymore. Everytime I start my engine I get pissed off... and I swear the radio doesn't go loud enough, esp when on the road and having to hear that too...

I had to spend just over 1000.00 to get my a/c fixed on my 2007 honda accord because of what they said was road damage. What they should say is poor quality build by honda. how do you leave such a fragile part open to the road as they did. I have a nickle size dent in the condenser caused by a bolt hitting this part. left a small dent but enough to let all the freon out. Honda made a very poor design flaw here and needs to step up and fix it. In no way should a 35,000-40,000 car be built this way this is crazy and this will make me think twice before i ever decide to by another honda. I sure hope Honda feels good about going the cheap way to design a car and losing a customer for life.

MY AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING IN JUNE OF 2010. WHEN I TURNED IT ON, WARM AIR CAME OUT. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP, THE TECHNICIAN SAID THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE COMPRESSOR CAUSED BY ROAD DEBRIS AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $1,044. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE DAMAGE OCCURRED BECAUSE THE COMPRESSOR IS OPEN AND EXPOSED, AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING PROTECTING IT FROM FOREIGN OBJECTS. THIS IS A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW ON THE PART OF HONDA. WHAT'S WORSE, I THOUGHT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR RIGHT AWAY, SO I DROVE AROUND FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS WITHOUT A/C, AT THE HEIGHT OF SUMMER. TYPICALLY, I AVOIDED TRAVEL ON EXTREMELY HOT DAYS--WHICH WERE MANY THIS YEAR, AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT--BUT ON ONE PARTICULAR OCCASION, IT WAS 98 DEGREES AND I HAD TO GO TO A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT AN HOUR AWAY BY HIGHWAY. BY THE TIME I GOT THERE, I WAS SO OVERHEATED FROM THE SUN BEATING INTO THE CAR AND THE HEAT COMING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND THE OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD THAT I SUFFERED MILD HEAT STROKE! SO, IN MY OPINION, A/C THAT IS NOT OPERATING POSES A DEFINITE HEALTH RISK TO THE PERSON OPERATING THE VEHICLE, WHO MAY NOT HAVE A CHOICE DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THAT THE COMPREHENSIVE PORTION OF MY INSURANCE POLICY WILL COVER THE DAMAGE, SINCE IT WAS CAUSED BY DEBRIS FROM THE ROAD, BUT SADLY I HAD A $500 DEDUCTIBLE, SO I AM STILL OUT OF POCKET $500 FOR THE FIX. HONDA EXTENDED WARRANTIES DO NOT COVER COMPREHENSIVE DAMAGE. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM--LOWER YOUR COMPREHENSIVE DEDUCTIBLE TO THE LOWEST POSSIBLE INCREMENT. TO LOWER MINE FROM $500 TO $50 INCREASED MY MONTHLY PREMIUM BY ONLY THREE DOLLARS! YES, $3.00, THREE DOLLARS. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY DEPARTMENT http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ . I SUGGEST THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR HONDA PLEASE DO THE SAME. THERE WERE TWO COMPLAINTS FOR MY YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL ALREADY FILED, MINE MAKES THREE. I AM ALSO GOING TO CALL HONDA DIRECTLY AND COMPLAIN, AS WELL AS WRITE A LETTER, WHICH I WILL ACCOMPANY WITH COPIES OF MY REPAIR BILL, INSURANCE CLAIM, RECEIPT OF PAYMENT FOR THE REPAIR, AND SEVERAL PAGES OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT I CAN DIG UP FROM THE INTERNET. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM GOING TO TRY TO FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL INSTALL A PROTECTIVE SCREEN TO SHIELD THE COMPRESSOR FROM ANYMORE DEBRIS. I URGE EVERYONE TO MAKE THEMSELVES HEARD. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE, BUT I PAY A LOT OF MONEY EVERY MONTH TO OWN THIS CAR, AND TO HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

I used to own a Honda CRX with 220K miles on it and the AC is still working perfectly fine. Now I purchased a brand new 2007 Honda Accord, drove it for more than a year and the AC already failed. AC condenser on 2007 is the dumbest design ever make by Honda. What a shame.

Ditto Y'all! My Accord was actually sitting around for a week, as we were away on vacation. When I got back... no AC. Took it in, "A rock must have hit the condenser, no that's not covered by the warranty, it'll be $1000, sorry." So what am I supposed to do now? Spend a grand so it can happen again? Trading this in next year is starting to sound pretty good.

Just brought a new 2007 Honda accord and only got 3300 miles on it, however, the A/C stopped working. I brought the car to the dealer today and they told me that the AC condenser was damaged by a rock and the repair cost was not covered by the warranty. The quo for the repair would be about 1200 (parts and labor). I believe that this is a problem that Honda should give a solution. Honda should recall the problem. It is not a problem of just one case. You are not the only one, go ahead and complain you problem. I am going to complain the problem directly with Honda.

My car doesn't even have 5000 miles yet and the AC has already broke. Due to road debris or not, when you have a significant amount of customers bringing in cars in due to this problem and some multiple occurrences to the same person, you can't just say "its a road debris hitting your condenser". A responsible company will take a deeper look into this design flaw and own up to their mistakes. Honda/Acura will NEVER get my BUSINESS again. Gonna trade in this piece of junk and get myself a Lexus.

I was driving with my family in my NEW Accord purchased BRAND NEW less than seven months ago when I noticed the A/C began to get warm and within about 5 minutes it was blowing hot air. I was a little upset as we about 50 miles from home and it was about 95 degrees out but figured not a huge problem I will just take it to the dealership and have the problem fixed under warranty, but when I got the call from the Dealer it was not covered under warranty due to the fact that the A/C condenser was damaged by some type of road debris. I went the dealer and asked to be shown the problem and the mechanic raised the car on the lift I could see a small amount of damage about half the size of a dime and the mechanic said it was leaking all the Freon out through this minute hole. When the car was up on the lift you can see where these huge opening allowing anything to enter and damage this extremely fragile material this A/C condenser is made of. My incident occurred in the summer and I only can imagine how many pebbles will ruin my A/C Condenser when winter comes and they start sanding the roads here in Colorado. I guess this problem will be something I have to worry about until I trade my Accord in on a NEW TOYOTA CAMRY. Honda's are supposed to be known for durability but from looking on this site I see this has been a problem from all the way back in 2003 and Honda has done nothing to address the problem. GOOD BYE HONDA HELLO TOYOTA
