CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2010 Honda Accord some several significant flaws: excessive oil consumption, premature brake wear, & uncomfortable seats.

In October 2013, Honda settled a class action for excessive oil consumption which extends their V6 powertrain warranty out to 8 years & no mileage limit. However, is the inconvenience & risk of dealing with Honda on this problem worth it? We don't think so.

Premature brake wear has been a consistent problem for this Accord generation. Once again Honda settled a class action lawsuit over brake wear, but most 2010 Accords are NOT covered.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Unwary buyers report the seat pain is mainly only noticeable after 15-20 minutes. The common theme we hear is "never noticed this during the test drive."

I haven't even had the vehicle that long, now a $800+ repair. I've NEVER had a repair with any vehicle used or new that had that high of a repair cost in the first 3 years of ownership. NEVER!!!!! And I purchased an extended warranty.

I was driving in the highway from North New Jersey to Rochester NY on Tuesday and found out the A/C was not working (blow only warm air) on the next day back. I brought the car back to the dealer and was told there was a hole (possibly hit by a rock) on the condensor that caused the leak. Cost to repair the condensor is $825.

I called Honda and spoke with customer service, told them I drive the car normally, still under 36,000mi/3 year coverage and should be pick-up the cost. But Honda REFUSED to pick-up any of the cost. AND Honda WILL NOT pay if it happens again; HONDA HAS NO PLAN TO DO ANYTHING TO PREVENT IT HAPPENING AGAIN..

All:

I believed the main cause of this issue is the opening on in front on the condensor. The opens are ~ 2" X 24" WITHOUT any mesh, these openings located closer to the ground; particals can be get in the opening without mesh/honeycomb protection; I also believed the condensor design is very fragile, any particals such as small rocks can cause the damage of $800+. I had expressed my complain to Honda about the design defect; Honda knows but DECIDED NOT TO OMMITED.

Honda------- You let your customers down.. Shame on your.....

I own an other Honda car for over 9 years and never has this issue. (The openings has Honeycomb) to pretect the condensor.

During the hottest Memorial Day weekend I had to sweat in my NEW Honda Accord because the A/C failed. At that time I couldn't imagine what the problem could be. I was not in an accident. I was not worried because I figured any problem this soon must be covered, and chalked-it-up to just one of those really annoying things. Unfortunately, after a 1.5 hour "diagnostic wait" (at Honda) I found out that this is a common problem, to have a rock slip through the car's front grill and puncture the A/C condenser. Moreover, it costs $750.00 of my dollars to fix! I have a question: If it is a design defect won't it be damaged again? I believe Honda needs to have a recall for this problem. Toyota is not the only dealership that should be required to have recalls.

I am a loyal Honda customer, having owned driven Honda for the last eleven years, and currently being a 2 Honda household. I traded in my 2000 Accord last fall for a 2010 Accord. Other than the sluggish performance of the base 4 cyl engine, I have been generally pleased with the car until today. I recently noticed that my air conditioner was not cooling the vehicle. When I took it into the dealer, they said that a rock had popped through the grill and punctured a small hole in the condenser. This type of environmental damage is not covered under warranty, and I owe $769 to replace the condenser on my brand new car. American Honda was no help either. I have read of similar complaints by other Honda customers. Honda either need to helps it customers or design a solution to prevent this from happening. I asked if there was solution to prevent this from happening in the future, and there is nothing that the dealer could offer. What if this happens 1x per year? I am very unhappy with the response I have received, and I will definitely consider other manufacturers in the future.

My air conditioning suddently stopped working while I was driving. When I took my car to a dealer, I was told that this would be covered under my warranty unless the condensor had been punctured by a stone. After they had examined the car, I was shown that the freon was leaking out (had to pay $22+ for the freon so it could leak out!!) and, of course, was told this was caused by a stone. I asked if there was any type of shield to protect the condensor from being punctuced and was told that there is not. I have no way of knowing if, in fact, a stone did the damage or if this is a manufacturer's/design defect.

Seems that this is a known problem and this car was only 2 weeks old and the rock damages the coil seems like Honda would want to keep its customers happy and fix the problem and refund us all that had the problem.

I am so frustrated. I have a 2010 Honda Accord with only 5,000 miles on it. My A/C was not functioning and I was told by the dealer that a rock punctured my compressor. They said it will cost $682 to fix and it was NOT covered by my warranty.

I find this absolutely ridiculous and will not pay it. I have filed a complaint with Honda and they are going to contact me within the 1-2 days. I will let you know what the outcome is. Honda obviously has a design flaw that needs to be addressed. This is not acceptable. I own a CR-V too and have been very happy with Honda. However, if they are not able to cover this problem under their warranty I will NOT BUY A HONDA EVER AGAIN! This is completely unacceptable.

Thank you for letting me vent!

On the first warm day after purchasing my New Honda Accord with less than 1,000 miles, I found that the A/C would not work. Took the car into the dealership for analysis and was told that a rock had hit my condenser and created a leak that caused the system to fail. The dealership stated that this was NOT covered by warranty and wanted to charge me $895 for the repair. You are freaking kidding me!!! The tech told me that this was a definate design flaw in the vehicle and they had been conducting these repairs closely after the new model launch in 2008. When is Honda going to do something about this? My god, this is my third Honda. It will be my last for dang sure if they can't do something better than that. This reminds me of the Chrysler debacle in the 70's of creating cars that became functionally obsolete!!
