I was washing the car one day and noticed a white circular spot the size of a half dollar on the top part of the driver side door panel. It felt gooey around the edge. I thought I must have had something on my elbow so I tried to clean it off with some leather cleaner. The gooey edge did come off with some rubbing but the spot was still there and it had a tacky feel to it. On closer examination I noticed that the top finish on the black plastic had worn off and had turned into an oily goop. When I'm driving I always rest my left elbow around that same spot while holding the steering wheel. I had owned a 2013 Accord sedan before this one for three years and this never happened on that car. I think the plastic they used on it was harder so I figure they went to this softer material for sound deadening reasons. I took the car into the dealer and they offered me a one time "in house" replacement so its been fixed but this is not really a complete solution. I greatly appreciate what the dealer did but Honda needs to step up with a permanent fix. I think most people probably at one time or other put their elbows or arms up on the top of the door panel. This is a habit I have that is going to be really hard to change.
