The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Entourage. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off and the electronic stability control and tire pressure monitoring system indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to capitol Hyundai(2820 eastern blvd, montgomery, al) for repairs, but the failure recurred. No diagnosis information was available. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the transmission, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000. The VIN was invalid.

While driving to work yesterday morning, I was turning off a side road onto a main road. As soon as I turned on to the main road the van sounded like maybe it had a flat, it did not. Both ESC lights came on and stayed on. The steering and braking was erratic and there was no pick up. I could not get the wheels to turn the same direction as the steering wheel for a short period of time moving into on coming traffic. Luckily I was able to get short period of control, enough to barley turn into a parking lot. I am so fortunate this didn't happen on the highway at 55mph or could have been horrific. I did call Hyundai and there are several recalls for the van including the front control arms. I asked if they can tow to the nearest dealer considering I just avoided an accident and had no control. Hyundai will not tow to the dealer. They did offer to reimburse me if I tow it, but that does not help me currently. This is a very serious situation and needs to be rectified by Hyundai before a driver is not able to avoid an accident due to having no pick up or control of the steering.

Control arms rotted out and while I was driving. I was doing 25 on a side road when the vehicle started to slide and was unstoppable. I had to put the vehicle into park while it was still moving to get it to stop. When the tow truck driver and police arrived they said the control arms rotted out and snapped. Had I made the left to go down the hill they said I would have ended up in someone's house. The car seat driver side mounts are snapped as well.

As I was pulling out of a parking lot, the ESC light came on steady and there was no power/pickup when depressing the accelerator. Top speed may have been 10mph. I was able to get the car off the road without incident as it was early in the morning. This is a known problem that presents a safety issue but has not been recalled (see Hyundai technical service bulletin 10-fl-010 for specifics). A loss of ability to accelerate when trying to join traffic could increase the chance of an accident and should be a general recall for replacement at Hyundai expense.

The brake lights of my 2007 Hyundai Entourage do not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed. Also the electronic stability control (ESC) light won't go off, and the cruise control will not engage. Contacted Hyundai customer assistance, little to no help. They confirmed the online alldata repair notice that said there is a recall for this vehicle with the exact problems. However, they couldn't tell me if repair was covered under recall. They suggested I contact local dealer and have car diagnosed at my cost.

Noticed cruise control was not activating and then not deactivating when manually braking. Upon arrival at destination, when engine was turned off, brake lights are remaining on and draining the battery. Unable to get the lights to turn off. Been having intermittent occurrences of ESC indicator going on at inappropriate times and remaining on. During those times, vehicle feels as if brakes are being applied even while I am attempting to accelerate on a straightaway. Vehicle seems to be so slow as if brakes are engaged. Found that stopping the vehicle and turning off the ignition completely will sometimes reset the car. Hyundai customer care was awful!!!! said the stoplampswitch on my vehicle has already been replaced through a previous recall so they cannot replace it again even though the exact same problem is still occurring again. They want me to take it to the dealer and pay for the diagnosis and replacement of the same part and problem! I've done that twice before (paid for diagnosis of faulty sliding doors which is why I came in to begin with) only to be told the erratic automatic sliding side doors will cost me $600 each to be fixed. Unacceptable customer service. Doors should open and close but we have had to live with non-working doors for over 5 years because Hyundai would not fix them for free as that was not a recall issue for them. Shameful service.

Driving home last night my ESC off/on light came on. I didn't know what this meant, but kept driving. Upon arrival at home my brake lights would not come off. The only thing that would make them go off is disconnecting the battery cable. Upon further test the brake lights stay on while driving as well so the individual behind me would not be able to tell whether or not I was about to stop. I called the dealer and the 800 number in regards to a recall that I saw on the NHTSA website that may be related to the issue and they say my vehicle is not impacted by this recall and that I need to take it in to the dealer. The issue seems amazingly similar to the 2009 recall.

I was stopped behind a vehicle turning left, and a line of cars came through the intersection behind me. The car directly behind me was unaware that I was stopped because apparently my brake lights were not on and the driver had to swerve quickly into the lane of oncoming traffic; the car behind him swerved into the right breakdown lane. We are fortunate we were not hit and that no one else was hit. Assuming the fault was with the other driver, I continued driving our Entourage unaware of the ongoing problem, only to discover on the highway last night after dark that the brake lights were not working. I had been driving the vehicle for close to a month this way--the ESC light has also been on that long--not realizing that the problem was also affecting the brake lights. There was a safety recall issued for this problem in 2009. Though every website I've consulted includes the Entourage in the recall campaign, Hyundai maintains that it is not included. It befuddles me that a known safety issue that is affecting the 07 Entourage is being completely ignored by Hyundai customer service. The safety issue is particularly troubling because owners will not know that their brake lights are failing to engage, unless an accident or near accident occurs. Even then, (like our family) they may not realize the problem. Unless a recall is issued/honored, the only way to discover the problem is to have it while operating the car. In our case, my children ride everywhere with me in the Entourage. I spoke with customer service twice, and got nowhere. I will not be purchasing another Hyundai in the future.

On a night going home from work, when it have sleeted a co-worker was following me and noticed I had no brake lights and then my ESC light would go on and off and I didn't realize it was a huge problem until the brake lights stopped working again I had my car tested and it come back as a brake light switch malfunction and when I was searching to find out about the part I noticed Hyundai had a recall on that part but because the recall has been closed they will not replace it on my van for me and I did not own the van until 2011 so I had no idea about the recall and the dealer also never mentioned anything, I am upset that a recall can close I believe they manufacture should make sure all of there vehicles have been fixed so now before I have a accident for having no brakes lights I have to figure out how to replace this switch..

I have been experiencing several electrical issues with the van. The van has been to the dealership several times for motor issues with the sliding side doors. About 5 months after purchasing the van we had issues with the side doors popping open while driving 70mph down the expressway. This was an ongoing problem. Was told by the dealership that the issue was fixed. Upon the last visit to the dealership for a sliding side door that does not function properly I was told that the motor needs to be replaced despite the several complaints I have had about the sliding doors. The cost was over $150 to replace the motor for the door. Current issue is the brake lights do not illuminate at all. I called dealership after learning of recall online and they stated this was VIN specific and no recall was issue on my van and I would have to pay the cost. After reading several reports of the same issue with the brake lights the issue does not seem to be VIN specific.

We were recently driving on the high way, when the ESC off and check engine light came on. My engine was still on, but I lost acceleration and had to pull over and restart the van. I had to do this three times before the ESC off light turned off and I regained the ability to accelerate. For the last two weeks every morning I will start the van and the same problem happens, I have to leave the van on for a few minutes and then turn it off and on again multiple times before the ESC off lights turns off and I regain acceleration. This is dangerous since we're now afraid to drive on the high way and lose power.

My wife and I recently took a 5,000 mile road trip. The first 4,000 miles we had no problems. However, when we were about 900 miles from home, we started having problems. We got ready to leave the hotel one morning and the ESC "off" light was on as well as the check engine light. You could floor the gas pedal, but only got 1,000 RPM's. the engine would run, but it had no power. I turned it off to go check it out, and when I came back the ESC light was gone, but the check engine light remained on the rest of the way home. The first day this happened, we got to 250 before it went into coast. After that, we could only drive about 70+ miles before it would start coasting again and we would have to find a place to pull off the road, turn the engine off and then restart it. It would run another 70+ miles and would do it all over again. The tms light would come on intermittently as well. At one point, I called our local dealer and he stated that it would be ok to drive it home in this condition. The main problem was in big cities (finding a place to pull over with the traffic) also, there was a lot of road construction with one lane traffic and nowhere to pull off. You can imagine the stress we were under. The reason for this letter, is mainly to make you aware of the problem. Needless to say, it could have been tragic. But, we were definitely lucky and were always able to pull over out of traffic going 75 mph. Updated 10/20/11

Electrical problems, with my 2007 Hyundai Entourage, day one the battery had to be replaced, then at 39,000 plus miles, the power door on the left side quit working, it was bad about re-opening after being shut. Then when it was returned another problem was created, the first time my wife locked the doors the door lock notification horn was very faint.they reordered a new horn, no change. The ex-service manager said that's the way it should sound. My wife and I and children, family members all said it sounded strange. We didn't make a big deal out of a horn sound.then the battery again went bad, had to be replaced. At 76,000 plus miles both power doors quit working, I asked for a quote, and to keep all replaced parts. The quote was given, the parts weren't given to me. I was told they were to be sent back as a warrenty. Two power door motors and a module, all went bad at one time. When these doors quit working, no child can open them from the inside. Three -four days later after this repair a light comes on saying ESC off and engine light comes on. I researched recalls on google and it said there was a recall on the adjustable brake petal and switch. The dealership and Hyundai of usa both deny that it was a recall. I am afraid this van is dangerous at this time.
