ESC off light comes on, and check engine light comes on sometimes when driving. Sometimes, the car loses its power when that happens in the middle of driving. Acting as if the car was turned off. It has happened multiple times.

Takata recall. My girlfriend and I were driving when we were approaching a stop light when my ESC light came on at 15 mph and my car 'stalled' then shut off however my car was turned on. I was in still in 'drive'and had four cars behind me. I proceeded to put my hazard lights on to let the other drivers pass by, put my car in park, then I turned the car off. After ten minutes I was able to turn the car on, proceeded to start to drive however the light remained on. I instantly noticed my car was slower than before I couldn't properly accelerate and the performance overall was just low. I am now afraid to go anywhere far with the car due to this experience luckily we were not in an accident this time. It's happened three more times since then. This was two weeks ago.

I've driven this car since 2011 and have not had an issue like this before. Last week, (October, 1, 2017). While driving down an off-ramp at ~35 mph, my 2010 Hyundai Sonata's ESC off light came on and would not go off ; at the same time my cruise control has stopped working. When I turn the car off and back on again, the ESC off light is off, but within 5-7 minutes of driving it comes back on again and stays on and the cruise control does not work now regardless of if the ESC off light is on or not. This occurs now every time I drive the car. At first the ESC off light is off, and every time after the first 5-7 minutes of driving it lights up. (and pushing the ESC off button does not affect it.) this occurs regardless of where I am driving or how (on on a two-lane, on the highway, in my driveway, turning, stopping, accelerating etc. The ESC off light stays on and the cruise control light comes on when I push the cc button, but when I try to push the button to engage the speed set, nothing happens, it will not engage.) I took it to the only Hyundai dealership within 100 miles of where I live, and I was told it would be $120 just to diagnose the problem. The csr that set up my appointment said he thought it might be the break light switch. I researched the issue myself, and apparently there has been a massive recall of various 2007-2011 Hyundai's (Sonata's included) that had faulty break light switches and needed to be replaced. I was never made aware of this recall/defect. Now, after 7 years and 133,000 miles (I'm way over the warranty period) and have to pay $ that I do not have just to get it "diagnosed" not to mention how much it will cost to "fix" the problem. Does the recall still cover my vehicle" and if not, is there a way I can order the part myself and replace it to see if that corrects the issue" -desperate in tn-

When I pump gas even when on a empty tank, the gas will splash back all over the place almost like its full but when it's really empty, also the ESC will turn off and on by its self from time to time, had too replace the fuel pump at 90,000 miles, now I'm getting a code PO449 even with new gas cap.. last but not least my paint is peeling off my car, especially the hood and roof. Noticed Hyundai sheds there paint,

The ESC off light comes on while I am driving. When the light is not on, the car drives fine. Once it comes on, it jumps every time the car switches gears or stops accelerating if my foot is on the gas. Each time I turn the car off, the light goes off, car drives fine and then the light comes back up randomly. Very scary especially when driving on the highway or up an incline.

The ESC turns off while driving the car at normal speed. I cannot turn it on when this happens. I turn off the vehicle and turn it back on then I can work the switch for ESC to turn on and off, but after driving less than a mile, ESC will automatically turn off, when this happens if I try to turn it on using the switch, it does not turn on. I had the same problem a couple of years ago while the vehicle was under warranty (miles at that time around 40,000). The dealership said they fixed the issue, but it is recurring. Now the car is out of warranty.

Sonata

When speeding up or slowing down the ESC light can come on. Car appears to have trouble changing gears when this happens. When the issue occurs after stopping or yielding then the car can go into a jolting back and forth motion for a few seconds up unto about 30 seconds before it smooths out. Also, some times, the car is unresponsive for a few seconds up unto 30 seconds before it will respond to the gas pedal being pushed. Stopping the car and restarting the engine appears to clear the ESC light, but it can come back on randomly at another speeding up or slowing down. Dealer appears to have no answer after 5 days in their service shop.

I have had my 2010 Hyundai Sonata since 2011. When I had 60 thousand miles on the car it was under warranty so I had 2 door handles that had to be replaced due to them braking off in the same area. They replaced them free for me but now I have another handle that is broken off. Has there been a recall on them breaking if so I would like to know why I was never sent any information on that. When I talk with the people at the dealership one dealer tells me they have had problems with the 2010 Sonata door handles, but another dealers says that they haven't. what is the truth. They break off in the same area and this time I am not under warranty so they want to charge me $310 to replace the handle. That is so outrageous. Also the door handle on the driver's inside pop and you have to roll down window and out from the outside. I have decided that I will be selling this car and will not buy a Hyundai again and will not advise anyone else too. To me these are easy fixes that the dealers are charging you outrageous prices for.

ESC off light comes on and goes off. My car wont speed up on the freeway while this is happening and has almost put us in 2 accidents. My ESC off light turns on by itself and causes the car to slow while im driving or even peel out in parking lots. I follow posted speed signs, but this switch turning on and off on its own with my two very young children in the car is very dangerous and even more scary.

2010 Hyundai Sonata. 9 months old, has been in the service center 5 different times. 2 times for sensor replacement. The last 3 times, driving at a normal accelerate pace. Check engine light comes on, ESC light comes on and vehicle loses power. On one of those occasions, vehicle lost power while going through intersection, and almost was rear ended. Service department has replaced many parts from throttle position assembly to thermostat to electrical wiring harness. In my opinion, vehicle is a lemon.
