- the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The engine light illuminated because the egr valve needed to be replaced. The egr valve has been replaced three times. The vehicle hesitated when the contact attempted to accelerate. When merging into traffic it became hazardous due to the erratic acceleration. The dealer unable to diagnose the failure. Updated 03/19/07.

: the contact stated the malfunction indicator light intermittently illuminated. The dealership replaced the egr valve five times. This has not remedied the problem. The mechanic at the dealership informed the contact that if this light illuminated, this was a good indicator that the vehicle could lose power. The contact stated that the mechanic told him that if he drove the vehicle of the lot it will break down on the road. Was given a rental car for three weeks.

The contact complained about several problems. The first problem occurred when slowing down to 50 mph, the vehicle jerked. The second problem involved the egr valve which was replaced. The third problem concerned the check engine light illuminating. There was a popping noise in the rear end when reversing. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer, and an oil leak was discovered coming from the return line on the turbo. No repairs have been made. Updated 01/04/06.

2005 Jeep Liberty crd engine suddenly failed on a major road. Vehicle was pushed off road and taken to dealership where it was found the egr valve failed. Part was replaced 10 days later, and returned. Approx 2 weeks later the egr control valve went bad and 6 weeks later was replaced by dealership, when I went to pick up the vehicle it would not start. I was told the egr valve had gone bad again and needed to be replaced.
