I bought my 2018 outlander sport a few weeks ago, the first time I locked my car I noticed that it auto folds the mirrors when locked. I figured living in upstate New York, where we have a lot of snow and freezing temperatures during the winter, that this would probably be a problem.

What I didn't realize was how quickly it would be a problem, this morning I left without even double checking them, turned out my passenger mirror never unfolded and was stuck. I stop, I have to manually open it because trying to reset the mirrors didn't work, now it can fold in and out, but just barely. The motor makes a terrible whining noise as it's folding in or out, and there's clearly some play in the mirror when it actually opens.

I'm going to be bringing it in for service and will update this post at a later date, because if it is possible to turn that setting off, I would highly recommend it in general, but even more so if you live somewhere that actually has winter.
