The brake sensor goes out causing the brake lights to not work. A recall says that the BCM causes fluctuations to the brake sensor, in turn causes the lights not to work. When I had the recal done for the BCM, the brake sensor also needed work. The result is 200 bucks worth of work done that wasn't recall covered. The recal even states that the brake sensor is affected because of the BCM problem. I believe that the brake sensor needs to be covered in this issue. Also include the traction control shutting off, that was another 200 spent for that. Take a good guess what was the result of that issue. Spoiler alert it was the BCM!!

Tail light recall repair completed in 2013 - car has been back to dealer numerous times for same issue. Tail lights come on when driving an go out when you hit the brake pedal. I was almost rear ended by a semi last night as the brake lamps were not operating correctly. Dealer closed out the case as repaired - GM recall line will do nothing and want me to pay $120 an hour to have the car put onto diagnostic machine - I refuse to pay out of pocket for anymore expenses - I've paid over $500 already before recall was extended to 2008 models. I work at a GM powertrain plant, this type of repair is unacceptable to my standards of what management tells us quality is to GM. Please investigate further their fix was a jump harness and re-greasing of the BCM - that is not the fix the real issue is the BCM's are bad and need to be replaced my GM reference id for this issue is 8-2214129861. I do not feel safe driving this car at night with no working brake lights. Issue happens while idling, city driving, and highway driving. Traction control and electronic stability control lights come on along with scrolling on car screen to service traction service ESC. Cruise control disengages and all traction stability of the car is turned off.. pressure in the brake pedal also goes.

Brake lights are either always on, causing traction control to fail, or they are on when the brakes are not applied and off when braking. This also causes cruise control to not work. Anyone driving behind me can not tell when I am braking. Some 2008 G6 models were recalled but for some reason my 2008 G6 has this problem and was not recalled.

GM has yet to fix my electronic power steering in my 2008 Pontiac G6. It has been over a year without power steering. The GM dealership that I deal with cannot get it fixed because GM refuses to send them the parts to fix it. I have complained to GM but all they want to do is talk to you and not fix anything. Furthermore I still need reimbursed $600 for the steering column that was replaced just before the recall was announced by GM.

November 6 2014 I purchased a 2008 Pontiac G6 I had a scheduled visit to repair a cracked gauge cluster, a seat repair and repair of my adjustable pedals while on the way to the dealer for repairs I noticed a hesitation in my transmission when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I notified the service writer of that happening and she said they would look into it. I was given a 3 month 3000 mile warranty that said nothing about who would pay for any repairs. It was in service at least a week. They call and say it.S ready and I pick it up it drives fine for 8 days and the electronics stop working all the warning lights are on ABS, traction control the odometer read the word error and my transmission wouldn't shift right. I drove it right back and they took it in for repair. This time they have it for 2 weeks ( I have the paperwork to prove this ). they finally call and tell me it's ready I pick it up no charge again and it drives fine for 4 days.same electronic problem happens again.and now it won't start. I have it towed in they have it for another 6 day. They call say it's fixed I pick it up it drives fine for a couple days and it again all warning lights on won't shift right traction control not working and the odometer reads error again. This time I don't shut it off and drive it right there I could not afford another tow charge I'm on a fixed income. They have it for another 10 days. They call me tell me it's fixed for the 5th time I go pick it up 6 days later the transmission is slipping I bring it in they tell me it needs a rebuild far $2357 and because it is a different problem I have to pay half of the price. I was told by a sae certified master mechanic that multiple computer failures may have prematurely cause the internal hard parts of the transmission to fail it has 60,820 miles on it well under GM mileage warranty. Called GM they side with the dealer

Car is a 2008 Pontiac G6 gxp - the car is called cybil due to it's issues going on one day and not the next. I bought the car brand new with 128 miles on it. Latest activity is the engine light coming on and the radio screen scrolling low engine power and service ESC. If you turned the car off then back on a few minutes later it would seem to run right, engine light would stay on and 3 cycles later go off. Once off it would stall and lights and messages would go off again. This happened for 10 days in a row and on the 10th day the car stalled out completely on busy main road in the middle of rush hour. Managed to get the car started, moved off the road, and towed to a certified dealer. Dealer took 3 hours ($360) to run diagnostics on the car due to generic code of P0651 showing up. At time dealer moved the car into their facility all the warnings and lights had already reset and didn't present themselves. Diagnostics showed history codes for the brake peddle sensor (which has gone off before and was an issue before the recall notice and other $$ spent figuring out why tail lights went on and off at their own will) other was cam shaft sensor (which I see other complaints on) and throttle body sensor which I see no complaints on. There are service bulletins for the cam shaft sensor for the 2.2 and 2.4, but not the high feature L7Y - this is a safety issue and if GM knows the sensors are shifting and pushing into something this needs to be recalled to fix. I am lucky I wasn't on the highway when one of these stalling issues happened. Car is currently at dealer waiting on parts to arrive to the tune of $700 - no christmas thanks to GM. The brake peddle sensor should be included in the recall for the tail lights and it is not. Please open an investigation into the cam sensor issue and make them extend the brake light recall to include the peddle sensor!

The service electronic speed control (ESC) and traction control light illuminates frequently. At low speed something happens that causes steering to be difficult. We have had the vehicle in for a recent recall that was suppose to fix this problem. The problem persists. The dealer wants approximately $350 to replace the electronic steering control modular. My research indicates that this item is a recall item but the dealer disagrees.

Bought a used 2008 Pontiac G6 one week ago. It had an open recall--13036. This was a brake lamp malfunction which could also affect the electronic stability control and traction control (disabling them). Also possible problems were brake lights coming on when accelerating and going off when braking. This also affects the cruise control and the shifter. Had the recall work done today, October 3, 2014. By the time I got home, brake lights were continuously on, cruise control did not work, and traction control and ESC were disabled. This after GM's recall.

My wife, my child, and I were on our way home when suddenly the traction control on my wife's 2008 Pontiac G6 stopped working while rounding a sharp corner going down a mountain just a few miles from my home. The car slid sideways to the left mid turn and left us completely sideways across both lanes. I was in a panic as it happened so fast, before I could react a large truck rounded the corner coming up the hill, he quickly hit his break and veered toward the ditch, luckily he was able to stop about 3 foot from the side of our car. His passenger side front tire went off the road in an attempt to stop before hitting us. After taking a deep breath and praising the lord for sparing our lives I quickly shifted into neutral and shut off the vehicle, then immediately turned it back on and noticed the traction control warning had turned off. After quickly checking with the driver of the truck to make sure everyone was alright, we proceeded home in the death trap we call our vehicle. It was the single most scariest moment of my entire life. One month prior (in July) I had received a recall notice (recall 13036) from General Motors that states they know about the problem, but do not have the parts for the solution. They claim the stability control, traction control, engaging and disengaging cruise control, panic braking, and park shifter may disable while driving the vehicle. Also the brake lights may not illuminate when pedal is pushed and will stay illuminated when the brakes are not in use creating an extreme risk for a rear collision. Again they state that they do not have the parts to fix the problem, but offered no solution for us while we wait for them to get parts. I called my local dealership in late July to inquire about the recall and was told the exact thing the recall states. Again, offering no solution or even a rental car for my family.

I was traveling on U.S. 30 to greensburg, pa and I went on to the off ramp on to West pittsburgh street and the traction control, stability lights lit up. I look down at the dashboard to see what going on. Then, my car jerked suddenly backwards I hit my head two or three times off the head rest. I hit the on star button to report what has happened to verify the codes and told them the situation. The on star people didn't even ask me if I needed medical attention. So, I drove to the hospital that was 1/4 mile away. I was diagnosed with a head injury and received treatment for neck and back injuries.
