I don't know the exact date/mileage that I started having issue with the passenger seat airbag light coming on intermittently. For me, not only would the light come on, but the darn thing would beep at me incessantly, which got to be extremely annoying.

I took it to a Suzuki dealership last year to have it looked at. Diagnostic testing was done & the rep that I dealt with at the dealership claimed that the error code that came up was nothing to be concerned about. Their fix was for me to keep some type of weight on the passenger seat & fasten the seat belt so that the sensor would think that someone was sitting in the seat, even though no one actually was. The person that I spoke to said that it would cost around $1,300 to replace the defective part & since there supposedly hadn't been enough complaints about the issue, Suzuki didn't want to pay for the fix..

I did receive a safety recall notification in the mail from Suzuki, HOWEVER, the replacement part (s) are not currently available. The mailing that I received said that I'd get a 2nd mailing when the part (s) became available & at that time, I should take the car to my local authorized Suzuki dealer to have the issue fixed at no cost to me.

Bad sensors in the passenger seat. It makes your airbag light come on. Basically, when this happens, your passenger airbag will not deploy.

The only solution is to replace the passenger seat. This is covered under the Suzuki extended warranty. Do it, so your passenger airbag will deploy in an accident.

Dealer can't fix if car computer does not show malfunction, so why do sensors keep turning on and off while someone is seated properly in seat? Must there be a tragic crash and the passenger dies before someone sees that it could be real problem? I can not wait for the light to stop working and I do not want to take the risk that the passenger airbag will not deploy if and when needed. Lemon law can not be used because dealer says nothing is wrong, but why do I see other complaints on the Suzuki forum? On this site there are complaints about the airbag light problem in other Suzuki models as well? COME ON Suzuki, why have a safety feature on a car that only works intermittently? Is it really safe to be in the passenger seat?
