From the time I bought this car I have had this problem. The other day driving towards a stop lite I looked away for a second or so and when I looked back a car had stopped in front of me. When I hit the brake my foot was on both the brake and the accelerator. All I could do was put all my weight on the brake for if I re-positioned my foot I would have rear ended the car in front of me. It was very hard to hold back the 265 HP V6.
I had complained to my Toyota dealer in the past but it fell on deaf ears. If this had happened with a person stepping out in front of me it could have cost a life. I am in my 70's and need all the help I can get. I believe the accelerator is electronic. Why can't a switch on the brake disengage the accelerator so they can't both be activated at the same time. I hate to get rid of this car but I no longer feel safe driving it after this close call. I look forward to hearing from you with your solution. Thank you
