We thought we bought the safest vehicle available. It appears all the safety features only work if you have cruise control on. We hit a tree hard enough to split the tire rim, break the motor mount on the driver's side front, but no air bag went off. Only the seat belts deployed and saved out lives even though we were badly hurt. We complained to Toyota and they sent us a review with countless excuses but no reason why the air bags did not go off. With all the safety sensors, radar detection, lane departure, etc., Toyota assumed no responsibility. So sad, thank God for the old fashioned seat belt! We did not replace the Rav4 with a Toyota!
