I would like to bring to your attention the following issue: The vehicle that I use for daily commute, Acura MDX, had a break down on 5/16/16. It had a warning of temperature heat up: on calling the dealership I was advised to pull over immediately. Immediately after I heard some engine noise and I shut the car engine off. The car did not restart on an attempt to restart the engine and the vehicle was subsequently towed to ACURA dealership (Suburban Acura). The cause of the breakdown was diagnosed as overheating of the engine due to tampering and they go on to state that the engine may have been seriously damaged that may show up in the future. Please see attached report for details. Also the vehicle was at the same dealership on 4/23/16 when no problem was noticed. My vehicle is always parked in a secure location at work (monitored by Veterans Police at the VA Hospital) and at home in a secure garage. I asked the VA police if there is a possibility of tampering at work and I have been told that they would have noticed it since the area is under video surveillance. I strongly suspect that the SUV was compromised ( tampered / damaged ) during routine maintenance when it was at the dealership prior to the breakdown and the dealer is trying to deflect the issue by citing tampering as the cause when there is no external evidence on the vehicle and circumstantial evidence does not support this as well. Tampering of this kind apparently is only possible with special instrumentation and I fail to understand why anyone would do this except at the dealership where they have the instruments/ personnel/ access and perhaps motive as well [ a disgruntled employer or to increase their business] The other explanation is the vehicle has some defective engine system and they are trying to cover it as it will have implications of recall on all other such models costing ACCURA millions of dollars. My vehicle is under the warranty at this time and they are unwilling to admit it to avoid liability. I have also contacted Acura customer service (Mrs. April at 800-382-2238 ext. 115239) & they are refusing to pay for the damages stating that this was a result of tampering and not mechanical failure.
