After purchasing the vehicle with 104,000 miles on it and having it professionally inspected by a local Audi repair shop, I was content to learn that it was in perfect driving order, no foreseeable issues, and only needed a standard brake pad replacement. Now after putting on 19,000 miles on it in 6 months in almost all highway miles, I get the "flash of death" on the gear indicator.

The next day as I was attempting to get it to a dealership, the vehicle wouldn't start as I realized that the transmission was stuck in "Drive". Even though I could move the shifter between each gear, yet nothing happened. This could have been catastrophic if I was going highway speed and it decided to fail, as it would have reverted to limp mode and I would have been SOL.

I kept constant on 5,000 mile oil changes and I rarely even rode it hard. I do have a pretty decent amount of knowledge on upkeep and basic repairs on vehicles. Average driving speed I go is 65 mph. For supposedly being a nicer, "high end" car this seems to be a common issue among the Audi dual-clutch transmission that costs about an arm and a leg. Would not buying an Audi or even any VW product with the DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox AKA Dual Clutch) transmission, buy a manual instead.
