Purchased new June 2019. Low annual mileage. July 2022-slight shimmy when braking. Condition worstened. Mid October 2022-dealership inspected and ID'd problem. The brake pads are worn down on all 4 wheels. Worn down on one side of pad only. Not covered by general warranty! Dealer claims the brake parts that apply pressure through the hydraulics "froze up." This situation caused only one side of the brake pad on the disc brake system to function. Dealer claims the New England winters and road grime/snow/sand can make this happen.

I'm not buying the excuse as I've owned 8-9 disc brake vehicles over 40 years in New England and it has never happened on another vehicle. And...disc brakes are preferred over drum brakes from a mechanical point of view. Not covered under warranty (probably excluded by every auto maker) as it's considered wear and tear equipment. But, failure at 23600 miles? I'm no rough driver, commercial licensed 30 years - I generally get upwards of 100K to 115K on brakes I'm can be very gentle on brakes.

Dealer had a future fix to make sure it does not happen again. I need to bring vehicle in every 15000 miles for brake inspection/adjustment. This will cost (2022 dollars) $70 per axle per visit. This recommended service is not in the owners manual. I suspect GM is aware that a problem exists and isn't offering a permanent fix. Where else do you have a dealership ID a problem and have a future fix already to present to you - I'm bet I'm not the first victim. I filed a NHTSA complaint which is ID 11491100.
