The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lacrosse. The contact experienced an intermittent failure with the low beam headlights for the past year. The contact had to drive with the high beam headlights at night. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V355000 (electrical system) and took the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed that there was a defective headlight module and stated that the VIN was not included in the hdm recall. The failure mileage was 77,000.

The contact sustained a concussion and another person sustained seat belt bruising which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V755000 (exterior lighting). The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lacrosse. The contact stated that smoke started to emit from the front of the vehicle while parked. As a result, the contact stated that the head lamp module box melted. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the head lamp driver module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V755000 (exterior lighting). The failure mileage was 70,000.

The lights headlights illuminated once the contact engaged the high beam lights. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the dealer could not determine the cause of the failure. The dealer then advised installing a new sensor. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The current and failure mileage was approximately 46,400. Updated 12/30/10. The consumer stated the dealer replaced the sensor and there have been no further problems. Updated 01/04/11

The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lacrosse. While turning the vehicle at 10 mph, the headlights dimmed when the turn signals were engaged. The contact did not know if the rest of the exterior lights also failed. He waited approximately 15-20 seconds before the headlights illuminated again. He turned the vehicle again and the headlights failed. The contact pulled the vehicle over and waited once more for the lights to illuminate. Once the lights activated again, he drove all the way home without using his turn signals. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they attempted to repair the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. There had been no other occurrences since the recent failure. The current mileage was approximately 16,600 and failure mileage was approximately 16,400. Updated 07/09/08
