I purchased this car in Jan 2021 and have drove it 2300 miles and the check engine light has been coming on and off for the past 2 months. This until yesterday when the car started to run like crap and lack power then blue smoke coming form the back of the vehicle. Stopped at my daughters place and son in law brought out his compression tester and we started to compression tests on all 4 cylinders. We went through #1-3 all having 160 psi and when we got to #4 ZERO psi compression. I drove it back to my place and just barely made it home after dying while sitting at the stop lights. And them died while backing in to the parking spot.

I had call the dealer and spoke with the salesman - nothing can be done on the weekend and will call me as soon as he has spoke with the owner of the dealer and see what can be done. I was not able to purchase the extended warranty for this car at the time. Didn't think I would need it for a car with less than 100K on it. I have researched the engine failure and Buick and several other MFG's have used this engine in their vehicles and many are stating the same thing with catastrophic engine failure of piston cracks. So why hasn't the engine mfg done a recall on these engines or are they waiting to repair them when the issues arise and is this free to the customer?

It was also noted that the dealer had replaced a spark coil prior to me buying the car, if that was the case do dealers even do compression checks to verify cylinders are up on compression before throwing parts at vehicles anymore.
