First in line while stopped at a left-turn light. Light turned green, began to accelerate. The ATS accelerated much harder than she had pressed the gas pedal. Mid-way through the turn, she heard a "pop", lost steering control, and the rear end spun her into the curb. Keep in mind this is a 4-wheel-drive car. When the car came to a stop, the nose of the car was resting on the front passenger tire and wheel. The right-rear wheel was scratched and abraded all around because it was still spinning when it hit the curb. The front right wheel has damage only on half of it because it stopped spinning when the nose dropped onto it. Looking under the car I saw the front-right lower control arm broke in mid-turn.

Both of us have taken corners much more aggressively in this car than she could have from a full stop. Until this incident, the car had always handled like the luxury-sport coupe Cadillac markets it to be.

I have started a claim with Cadillac's product allegations team, and can't seem to get a phone call back from them.

I would expect more from the new "Standard of the World" and the car that the press claims to be the BMW 3-Series beater. No thanks on another GM vehicle.

Update from Oct 8, 2015: GM pulled the "black box" data. Maximum speed during the incident was 38mph.
