2007 Cadillac Cts-43,000 miles-driving at 50 mph when car downshifted to second gear and would not change back to drive until I shifted to neutral and back to drive. Had this happened at 70 mph or had it shifted to low gear it could have caused a major accident.(did not press.on accelerator to cause the car to shift into another gear).

The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Cts. In Feb of 2008, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for NHTSA campaign id number 07V58900 (power train:axle assembly:axle shaft:seal); however, the vehicle was not repaired correctly. The transmission module was recently replaced and the manual gear failed. Recently, the rear rotors failed. A complaint was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that they would not assist with the repairs because the vehicle was over 30,000 miles. In addition, the warranty was expired. The failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 38,000. Updated 12/02/08. Updated 12/03/08.

The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Cts. While driving less than 60 mph in rainy weather, the traction light suddenly illuminated. When the brakes were applied, the vehicle slid everywhere. The rear or front of the vehicle struck a North and South divider. None of the air bags deployed. A week and a half later, the contact received a safety recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 07V589000 (power train:axle assembly:axle shaft:seal), which she believes to be the cause of the failure. The current and failure mileages were unavailable.

February 2008, . received recall letter for new Cadillac 2007. Appointment was made and problem has not been corrected - end of February 2008. Car still leaks from engine and leaves residue in driveway where parked. Contacted dealership and they are not interested in repairing. Cadillac customer service made another appointment for diagnostic for May 2008. Car still not corrected. Feel the car should be replaced. Bought brand new - am 80 years old and need vehicle that is safe and secure. Main reason for purchase. I cannot continue to take car back and forth to dealership and problem not corrected. Feel it is a tactic and car should be replaced. The recall drive axle differential seal - bearings and other components including drive wheels, brakes, engine, etc.....

07 Cadillac Cts was driven and parked. I minute later it was on fire, started on top of transmission in interior. Extinguished in another 2 minutes but damage exceeded $20,000. GM product liability and esis dragging feet on warranty claim or relief for > 2 months, insurance says cigarette (don't smoke) dealer wont do anything for fire event. Cause is defective catalytic cnvtr/transmission but no help from GM, dealer, warranty, I've offered photos fire report, etc. Insurance wants to settle quick and salvage. I need to keep for GM evaluation for safety defect-they aren't very interested or helpful. No car, no warranty relief but luckily no injury. Can GM be pressed to resolve liability to the owner in a timely manner", do they even care if I ignore insurance pressure to keep car available to GM inspect for root cause" thank you
