problem #1

Escalade V8

Stabilitrack and traction control spontaneously turns off without provocation or warning rendering gross power loss... very dangerous as it happens while driving, for instance on the interstate. I felt like we were going to be rear-ended (very scary with my three year old twins in the truck) before I could safely get over and off the interstate.

This problem has occurred FIVE times, each instance the truck has been taken in for repair which fixes the "issue" temporarily, until the next near death driving experience.

After the last fix, the serpentine belt shredded. I had that fixed along with transmission fuel lines and water pump. Drove away from service shop to find lunging between second and third gears now. Now technicians state transmission fluid appears burnt.

That brings us to today, where the dealership has had my truck for three weeks, determining if GM will cover a transmission dismantle in an attempt to determine the issue, because basically they have no idea why the stabilitrack and traction control or lunging transmission (which they think are all related) continue to have serial problems. Currently, I'm driving a loaner waiting to see if I'll be required to purchase a new transmission for 4000 plus 1600 labor, or a used one for 3200. They can't tell me if any of this will be covered by GM.

The 2013 Escalade was purchased in 2016 with approximately 50,000 miles and certified with clean car fax. Currently has 71,000 miles, with no accidents, up to date services (oil, etc.)... only repairs incurred as mentioned above, which occurred within one year of purchase. Bottom line: the vehicle should not have these recurrent issues, obviously GM or the dealership can not figure out the problem, so they claim. BUT now I know after doing research, this is a common issue with GM. How can they not recall these problem vehicles when it's not just an annoyance but clearly a safety issue, when power losses occur during mid travel. Does someone have to die, get rear ended by a semi truck bc of sudden power loss for GM to get sued to do the right thing??? FIX your problem trucks, GM. SHAMEFUL.
