I have a collapsed lifter in a 2016 escalade which according to multiple mechanics both at Cadillac and not affiliated with have said they have seen this many times with this make and model. After further research I see class action suits have been filed for such things but nothing resolved yet. Meanwhile while my car is out of warranty at 87,000 miles I should not be having this sort of engine failure. I do not want to pay to fix as I have read this keeps happening yet I shouldn't have to get a new car already just because Cadillac wont recall yet.

Escalade Premium 6.2L V8

Took our 2016 Cadillac Escalade into the dealer for service and noticed it had a rough idle. While it was getting its oil change the looked at it and stated it needed new lifters due to a cylinder 5 misfire, and possibly the camshaft of the lifter and locked in a certain position. Dropped it off on Tuesday and they told me they would call. They called me Wednesday and stated that my extended warranty should cover it but I had to approve a tear down and then the warranty company would have to inspect to cover repairs.

Come Monday, the dealership calls and states that it needs a camshaft and lifters and they were replacing all lifter since it’s required to do all when replacing any, and that they had tore it down and already had the repair approved with extended warranty company. Come that next Friday, it was completed, and ready for pick up. Without extended warranty was going to be close to $6000 to repair but with extended warranty was only $200 which was my deductible, and no rental since it was extended warranty work, but only without a car for a week and a half to do engine work, dealership was great!!
