Dashboard full of lights… Stabilitrak, ABS. Lost power steering. Paid to Cadillac dealership $150 to computer diagnose. Diagnosis: replace Stabilitrak module. Part on back order from GM for months. Had to endure a bell ding about every 3 minutes. Dealership refused to disconnect the bell. Very hard to drive and turn with no power steering.

Today I took Cadillac SRX in to have the module installed. After installation, when it was time to pay for the repair, I was told that they had discovered the ABS pump was out also and it would be an additional $1000 to install the pump. I questioned why the ABS pump problem was not found on the computer diagnoses but did not receive a clear answer… just double talk. I informed the service manager that I refused to put another dime it what had been a Lemon from Day 1. I took the SRX next door to the Cadillac Used Car lot and asked the manager what price he would give me for the SRX with 83,000 miles and in need of an ABS pump. The manager told me he did not want the SRX because it was an SRX. He called it a Lemon. He started naming components that would fail and I informed him that each of the stated components had already failed and been replaced. I told him that I had purchased an extended warranty that had paid for all the replacements that ranged from $1,000 to $2,000+. Without being notified of the extended warranty expiration nor being offered the opportunity to purchase a warranty again, I did not learn of the expiration until the Stabilitrak quit. I can now understand why the warranty company did not offer me another warranty.

Because my repairs paid for by the warranty exceeded 3 times the cost of the policy, this company decide to cut their losses. My dilemma is whether to order the ABS pump online and find a mechanic to install, try to find a used car dealership who may not known about the SRX lemon and sell it, or try to sell myself and reveal the need for ABS pump. Whatever I do, I will do it quickly before another costly repair surfaces.
