Had 2011 Cadillac SRX LX and loved it. Bought a 2014 Cadillac SRX LZ & love it too. Problem is, on my 2011, the Headlights were recalled and Dealer replaced with brand new. On the 2014, there is no recall, and when lights are on Dim, from the Drivers point of view, it is like no lights at all. Additionally, headlight lens are fogged up as they were on my 2011 before being replaced.

MY CADILLAC 2014 SRX HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT I CANNOT DRIVE IT AT NIGHT WITHOUT THE BRIGHTS ON. SEARCHING THE INTERNET THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY CADILLAC SRX BETWEEN 2010 AND 2015 DUE TO MOISTURE GETTING IN HEADLIGHT AREA. THEY HAVE HAD CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS ABOUT THIS BUT NEVER DID A RECALL EXCEPT IN CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA. THE COST TO REPAIR THE COMPLETE HOUSING IS $2000 AND UP. I AM CONSIDERING GETTING ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE OF COST! I GUESS THEN THE NEW OWNER CAN RUN OFF THE ROAD AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. SHAME ON YOU CADILLAC FOR PUTTING YOUR DRIVERS IN HARMS WAY!!!

The head lights on our 2014 Cadillac SRX have been an issue since we bought the car in 2017.

We initially thought it was a simple repair and changing out with a Cadillac headlight would resolve the issue. It worked for a few months at best. We then thought we should maybe take it to the local Cadillac dealer, Lou Bachrodt, in Pompano Beach Fl. They again fixed and and we paid out of pocket. Thinking this would be the end of it, as a dealership should know how to fix its own products. This again was not the case. We opted to not continue throwing good money after bad and said we would only drive the car during daylight hours to not get caught out in a non visible issue while driving. Either of these repairs fell under a warranty so we paid out of pocket.

Several times over the last few years I have watched when I see this make of Cadillac on the road and can tell they are having the same issue as us. Headlights being too dim to work or slightly better than a candle on the front of the car.

I have spent the entire day today trying to get a resolution to this issue after receiving a letter 2 weeks ago from Cadillac saying this was going to be fixed. We understood this was up front out of pocket initially and then we were to submit our claim for review and reimbursement. We are fine with playing by the rules. What I can’t wrap my mind around is why this is not handled like any other recall. Because lets be honest, this is exactly what this is but its reimbursed on the backside instead of upfront.

We never received this letter in 2020 as we have been told it was sent. We had been living in the same home for 3 yrs when these letters were sent out. Only recently did this letter arrive in our new home address of the last 8 weeks. There is no date on this letter from the sender Cadillac)so how could we have ever known this was a stale piece of mail. Who as a company sends out a letter with out a date on the header as to its issue date? How can I know how long 90 days are that are being referenced as the deadline to fix it with out that date. I would have probably have thrown this in the trash a couple weeks ago when I saw it was old and not valid any more.

The final question is this. What difference does it make if Cadillac paid for this repair in 2020 or in 2022? It's the same repair and it's as simple as that. They would pay in 2020 but not in 2022. It's still the same issue that we now have "in writing”, finally that Cadillac is acknowledging is a problem. Yet they are not willing to give us more than $100 toward the repair. The local Jensen Beach dealer is giving us a $500 credit toward the repair but that still leaves us with out of pocket $1300. No way are we willing to put that kind of money out again for a 3rd time once I saw they are replacing the bad headlights with the same defective material.

SRX Luxury 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,002 miles

I purchased the vehicle at US Bank as a lease turn in and drove for a couple years and realized that there was limited vision when the lights were on Dim. I went to the GM dealer in North Wilkesboro - not a Cadillac Dealer - and asked if there was an issue or a recall and was advised there was none at the time. So I purchased the headlights at Headlight Specialist in Irvine California and purchased conversion Kit and Xenon HID Bulbs to fix it. Bulb Size H11 Color Temp; 500k.

They worked for a while and then the left side burned out and they will not replace it. This repair work was done by a qualified auto repair shop and then the left light failed and they are not working with me to replace lifetime guarantee. Now I have to go back to the dealer and have them convert back to factory and Cadillac after multiple conversations will not help since the time to file has expired. I was reimbursed for labor but not parts since it was not GM parts. This was always handled poorly by GM and not done due to a expiration date.

I am hoping I can get the problem fixed so we can drive at night with two headlights on DIM and am not happy with GM and Cadillac the way they handled this. I have lots on documentation to back up my complaints and I'm willing to do what is needed to have them resolve the issue.
