Blazer 4.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

Replaced Intake Manifold Gasket myself, Serious pain in the ass, was all the stuff on the disassemble. Before I started, the truck was leaking real bad , running rough, real bad hesitation, etc, etc. The factory had and still has a problem with the gasket on the 4.3L, we found out about an upgrade on the internet and put that in. through more research we found out that you can not just use any old Anti-freeze because it will attack the gasket. I changed the COIL, yes the coil, on GM's suggestion that the coil is worth crap after 50000 miles. Replaced Distributor, Plugs, Oil Pump, New Belt. The Truck runs 100% Better, My guess, by the steps we took, the truck was not running well untill we changed the Coil, I Still don't think it is running perfect, so I am going after the fuel system next, Hope that helps too. Also FYI, The Distributor for the 4.3L is also used for 8 cylinders, because after all the4.3 is an 8 cyl. with 2 cylinders cut off

Blazer LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

I took my truck to the dealer to find out what the whining under my hood was and the crunch under my truck and they told me that in addition to needing a new transmission, ball joints, and sway arms, I also needed the upper intake manifold gasket replaced. Owner BEWARE!! When the dealership replaced the gasket they managed to clog the heater core and returned my vehicle to me with no heat. I'm currently fighting them because I don't feel like I should have to pay for it.
