Attempted to perform all maintenance to make it last, even used synthetic oil.
Began to experience misfiring and sputtering at highway speeds and at idle at stop lights. Replaced Fuel Injection Spider. ($650). That did not solve all the misfires. Then determined valve cover gasket leaking oil into spark plugs so that was replaced. ($250). Did not solve issue. Mech did cylinder pressure check and discovered one cylinder was losing pressure. It read 75 psi when all others read 150 psi.
At stop lights, rpm dipped and oil pressure dropped risking engine cut off at risk.
Lots of internet opinions said to replace engine but it would cost more than the value of the Blazer. Mechanic suggested adding Lucas High Mileage Oil Stabilizer to keep oil pressure up and then change to 20W-50 at next oil change. Anticipated would get and extra year or two before eventually running on 5 cylinders and to consider selling it NOW if I wasn't going to replace engine.
Rest of vehicle works fine so need to find a buyer who know how to work on engines.
