Add me to the list of folks steamed at Chevrolet for not supporting an obviously faulty design issue with this V6 engine. The P0008 code has popped up on and off for a while now. I have paid for a new transmission, a new drive train, a new radiator, and now the dealer's service shop says they will need to replace the timing chain. I have an extended warranty, so it should be covered -- but my warranty company has been difficult to work with in the past on the transmission issues, so I'm sure I'm in for a fight with them in order to have this covered. If they refuse this repair (estimated at $2200), then I will post a future rant detailing their identity.

I am beyond fed up with this car. The dealer has been fairly helpful, but I think their hands are tied by Chevrolet. I am tired of seeing Chevrolet commercials on TV that brag about their awards while they continue to screw over their customers by not covering an obvious design flaw!!!!!

Check engine light came on my 2010 Camaro 3.6 v6 with only 52,721 miles. Took car to Pine Belt Chevy in Lakewood NJ for free engine code read. Code P0008 & P0017 camshaft position correlation, vehicle needs timing chains. Quoted $2,800 plus tax to have it fixed. After reading all the posts on this same failure it is ridiculous that it is not a GM recall or under their HORRIBLE WARRANTY policy of 3 years 36,000 miles. Can't afford to fix it. Been a long time GM buyer for the past 30 years. As painful as it may be its time to buy a Japanese or Korean car that comes with a worthwhile warranty.

Not sure of date but this is the first post leading up to the second. Start car one morning to go to work and felt like running on 4 cylinders. Rough and engine light turned on. I shut it off and had it towed to Selman Chevrolet dealer. That was 8am. At 11:30 am same day they called me and said my car was ready and no charge. I was concerned and asked what was it. He said broken valve spring on number 7 cylinder. I asked if that was a common issue. They said no, we have not run into this yet. I asked if it damaged anything else? As I have four year old classic Chevy's. I am a Chevy only guy. :Two Chevelle's, Nova, Impala. Chevy tattoo on my back. Faithful! They said the way the valve train is set up it did not fall. All good and car back to normal.

I was happy with the repair but concerned for the future of the car. She is my baby and I take care of her and how could this of happened? So I asked. He said maybe a miss shift and an over rev. I told him it happened in the driveway and ran great the night before with no warning. Like it broke right on start up. No reply but a shrug like he did not know.
