The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet HHR. While the contact's wife was driving 55 mph, the rear passenger door independently opened and failed to latch. The contact also stated that the front and rear turn signal switch failed to properly operate. The contact had to manually deactivate the signal switch to turn off the signals. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger door latch and the turn signal lever/ switch assembly to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the door latch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The automatic lock button had to be pressed numerous times in order to open the doors. The dealer repaired the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,663. The consumer stated the body and trim were defective, due to the door locks getting stuck half way and the doors would not unlock, the electrical system was also defective, as the radio and cd player were inoperative, and the engine would not start at times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that she needed to replace the entire door panel. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified. At times when driving at speeds of at least 55 mph, the door would independently swing open. On one occasion, while traveling with a child passenger in a child restraint, the door closest to the child independently swung open. The contact stated she would have to use a rope to hold the doors closed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for repairs or diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 71,000 and the current was unknown.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet HHR. The driver-side and passenger-side rear doors will not unlock from the inside and sometimes from the outside. He has to climb over the center console to exit the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the body control module and the left front door latch were replaced. Also the lubrication was applied to the door latches and lock rods. Neither of these repairs have remedied the failure. The failure mileage was 31,091.
