The fuel filter has to be replaced frequently. If not the engine rpm will not rise. There is not any warning before the symptom. Now I have to keep an extra $50 filter under the seat because you never know when the engine is going to act up. I used to change the filter every other oil change with pricey Wix filters. It did not make a difference. I felt that I was wasting money. Now I just wait until the symptoms. Every time my truck is in the dealer they try and sell me a filter. They charge over $100 to put on a screw filter. I think they hold the filter and screw the truck.
