Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Monte Carlo 6-cyl

The consumer stated that intake manifold gasket was leaking. This occurred since February 2005. The vehicle has been checked at dealership and a repair shop. Both places said that there was a coolant leak in the engine. Consumer has not fixed the problem yet. Was waiting to see if GM was going to issue a recall. Consumer contacted the dealership and manufacturer. The manufacturer said that there was still an open recall on those vehicles. Consumer did not have a recall number, and system was not showing a recall on the engine. The representative from GM told the consumer about the recall. The recall was on a coolant in the engine that may leak. GM was the one who told the consumer that he was not included in the recall.

Monte Carlo 6-cyl

I purchased this car in 09/01 it has been a problem ever since. Front end needed to be rebuilt at 1200 miles and then again at 2000 miles. Air conditioner has been a constant problem (I was told I needed to park some place else) the manifold gaskets had to be replaced at 48000 miles and now the wiper switch has gone bad. The front end feels real bad, but they claim there is nothing wrong. Just waiting for the front end to fall out from underneath the car on a hot, rainy, July morning. I'm going back to Ford. Oh yeah forgot, paint went bad 1 year after I bought it. GM says I drove through something.
