This is the worst car I have ever purchased. First started with car not going in gear 50 miles after warranty went out. Put in shop was told it was ignition switch. Charged me about 400.00 about 6 mos later car wont go in gear again. Took it to another shop charged another 350.00. 6 months later Car wont go in gear again and still will not go in gear without going under console which we broke and pushing in a button to release the shifter. Not spending anymore money on this piece of sh*t. Well, at the 4 yr mark the AC goes out. Tries to blow hot/cold air at same time. Put it in shop paid about 400.00 for new compressor. Cooled somewhat for about 2 weeks and the same thing started not to mention the clicking noise under the glove box. Also ordered some kind of piece that goes under dash and replaced it for 60.00 but that did nothing so still no air. Next when the car was 3 yrs old the dash started coming apart and if it were not for me keeping it in the garage the dash would be completely separated...Nothing good to say about this 2006 Monte Carlo. Also, had a 2001 Chev Monte Carlo and had same problem with the AC at the 4 yr mark.....So anyway I can now start the car with a putty knife and ride in the heat...??? Dont purchase a monte carlo.......

Update from Mar 4, 2013: Forgot to add that at the 50,100 mind you 50-100 can remember exactly but think it was 50 miles over warranty is when all of the problems began..And forgot it started with not being able to take key out of car or turn it off....Yes, took it to Chevrolet and was told it was ignition problem. Also, it would not go in gear or shift when this happened well, to date and about 800.00 later I still have this problem....Can be verified with Chev dealer....Imagine this.....
