Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I Bought a certified used Chevy Silverado K1500 Extended Cab yesterday. Carfax told me it was perfect, mileage isn't bad for a 2013 at 70K. It shakes when I hit around 55Mph. Cannot figure out what is causing this. Feels like the tires are all out of balance. I did not know I was buying a giant vibrator. What do I do? This is awful just sinking money into a vehicle I'm now reading is known for shaking. When I hit around 55 it gets bad through 70mph. Then around 80mph it goes away. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? The dealer I bought from said they just had the tires thrown on, and brakes redone. All the wheels/rims have glue on them from having weights all over them, now there is only one tire with weights on it. Could this all be balancing of the tires? They put Goodyear wranglers on it. They look very new but not brand new. 265/R17. Any help is appreciated. I am extremely annoyed I didn't know about this shaking problem that has been going on now for years until I started searching online. I didn't see anything when researching the vehicle until I actually put in shaking and Chevy. Help!

Silverado 1500 LT Z71 4x4 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

2013 Silverado LT 1500 4x4 Crew cab 5.3 automatic. Truck has constant vibration feel no matter what speed but seems to get worse the faster you get. You can feel the vibration through the seat and everywhere else and you can see it if you have a drink in the cub holder. The vibration doesn't seem to go away at anytime and also vibrates with no throttle going down hill and when applying brakes while slowing down. Truck vibrates accelerating going up hill. I never noticed the vibration when I purchased the truck new but it's like the vibration just showed up and seems to be getting worse. Have watched the truck changing between engine modes and notice no change in when the vibration occurs or severity.

Getting ready to make the dreaded appointment with the service department so they can keep the truck all day and then say we can't find any problem.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

I have been back and forth to dealer over a vibration and rattles, flickering lights at a stop, transmission bucking jerking loud clunking, door panels rattling with low speaker volume, dash rattling against windshield, all to have dealer say it's all normal in Slidell Louisiana.

First week I had its rear wheels lock up for a split second, screeching tires, dealer had to replace rear end. The vibration through steering wheel and seat is horrible and gets worse the further you drive it eating at you, there is something wrong. Dealer has tried rebalancing with no luck and finally replaced one tire, still having problems. They called a rep out to drive it and did not notify me to come to test drive with rep ( how convenient), to have him say nothing wrong with truck. The door panels rattle, the dash rattles against windshield, they say there's no fix and was told wait til you get 30,000 miles on it and the rattles will be worse (my mouth hit the ground when they said that standing in a circle around truck in service).

I just paid $40,000 to have them say that and that there's nothing wrong with truck, this is the clunkiest, hardest shifting piece of crap I ever owned along with the two Corvettes, 2004 and a 2011, that fell apart before they hit 60,000 miles.

The trans can never make up its mind what gear to go into and sometimes when coming to a stop lurches you forward like someone rear ended you or like you have a full 55 gal drum in bed that rolled forward, the rear brakes stay engage even after you let off the brakes, had times when I put in gear and the truck delays before it will move. I have noticed when you bring to dealer and they write service order they totally reword what you tell them, even when I have wrote on note paper and handed it to them. I have worked at a dealership and that is their way to keep the same complaint from showing up ( tricky) so you can't say I have to keep bringing it back for same thing.

Well now I'm told if i bring it back for vibration they won't touch it! wtf. I just spent $40,000 here. I am mentally exhausted and depressed over purchase, spent many hours of my time researching about my problems with my truck only to find out that I'm not alone with the problem. My dealer won't work with me and the service manager looks at me like I'm crazy when I complain. Now she just tells me see so and so and walks off, she always tells me there's nothing wrong with truck but every time I bring it in I have a mountain of service orders from stuff they had to replace, obviously they are not showing her the sr's from repairs. I have asked to speak with general manager, he never called so I ask to speak to owner, never called. Guess if I'm not some big ass kissing friend of theirs I'm a nobody that just spent 40,000 at their dealership.

Owner too busy to see he runs a crap dealership with the rudest and lack of expertise of repairing a vehicle, if they cant plug a computer into it to tell them the wiper blades are bad they wouldn't have a clue how to work on it. So I had to go to WalMart and buy felt strips to put behind the panels to help with rattles, it helped some but not a 100%, still have a vehicle that has a very noticeable vibration, still clunks, jerks.

And I forgot to mention the paint that is thinner than air that I won't even let anyone look at it because it scratches or chips off too easy. Very disappointed in GM quality. I traded in a Range Rover Sport for this piece of crap, what a mistake, the vettes will be next to go. These vehicles remind me of old 80s Oldsmobile and caddy's expensive when you bought them and fell apart and had no value after only a couple of years. I said I would never buy a Dodge again but had nowhere near the problems with that truck, 2005 quad, as I do with these GM's. You get no special attention from dealer unless you buy a Cadillac. That sucks, trucks aren't cheap anymore and are approaching half the price of a home and you get no support, your just stuck with it until you are in the position to trade it in, which I'm not at this time.

I told them I was going to call GM customer care, they told me go ahead, they work for them and they won't help me. I couldn't believe what I was just told. Googling the problem just gets me more frustrated when I see the mountain of complaints about vibration and quality of these trucks. Ask to have a field engineer to come help and was told that ain't happening also. As for the vettes, interior falls apart, paint comes off all the panels, the convertible leaves me with a pool on floor board after it rains, have to tap on switches on dash to get lights to come on in switch, and so on, no more GM for me. And let it be known that because of the dealings I had with the Chevrolet dealer in Slidell Louisiana ( and I stressed this when I say this) no more GM vehicles are to be purchased from any GM Chevrolet business that replaces fleet vehicles at 90,000 miles, until my personal vehicle is either repaired to my satisfaction or bought back.

And as far as the dealership in Slidell Louisiana, any fleet vehicle that is in need of service or even breaks down near the dealership is to be towed to an approved local independent repair shop. All fleet replacement sales will be suspended until further notice, this includes heavy duty, light duty and sales fleet vehicles. Anyone trying to obtain service through dealer will be turned down and redirected to independent shop that is setup through /,. *,.

dear Mr regional rep for south LA, tell me there's nothing wrong with my truck now, and owner/general manager, some people you think are just little peed on have now come back to bite you in ass, maybe next time you'll think about courtesy and returning a call and helping with a problem. Mr owner, how about you come watch me trade in 6 Chevrolet fleet vehicles on 6 new Ford 450 trucks down the street at Ford dealership in Slidell Louisiana 3rd week of January 2014 and watch how I contribute money to their sales! And then 2 new service managers truck in first week of Feb.2014. Thank you very much, pissed off consumer.
