The lining of the rear brake rotors flaked off the rotor. In talking with the mechanics concerning this incident I have been advised that they replace a significant number of rear brake rotors on Chevrolet silveradosdue to this same complaint.these rotors had to be replaced while the front rotors are still original equipment.this situation caused the vehicle to shudder violently when braking at highway speeds. Causing a feeling of no control on the vehicle.the entire vehicle would shudder.

Purchased car, 10/06/2000. Upon braking over bumpy road, brakes seemed to slip, and made a thumping sound. Dealer said front brake rotors were out of round. The rotors had just been replaced, and they refaced both front brake rotors. On, 11/01/2001, after a car wash, the ABS motor ran non-stop after the car was turned off. Dealer "tested" ABS system, advised pump motor had "failed" and replaced it, at a cost of $979.04. On March 20,2001, the ABS light came on when I was leaving work. Dealer advised that the part they had replaced in Nov,2001, had "failed" and they would replace free of charge. They called to say when they did replace it, it shorted out, and now we needed a "modulator" at a cost of $600 plus labor. I believe that this is a serios safety issue with these trucks and I know that many of them have had the entire ABS systems replaced. If Chevy knows the location of the ABS is a problem, why hasn't it been corrected? and repairs relating to a design flaw should definitely not be the consumers burden.

Service department for wheeler Chevrolet cannot find the cause for the failures, they said they hoped the problems was fixed, however the right wheelbearing had to be replaced again and the brakes failed because of the rotor locking to the spindle when the bearing wore out after less then 30 miles and I have retained a private company to correct the defect and to see why wheelers could not sole this problem, they told me at one point that I shouldn't worry about the grinding noise the bearing prior to this one was making and to drive as normal as you can see by the low milage I dont drive it and until the saftey issue is resolved I will not allow my family to either.
