Summary
This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have Service messages in the Driver Information Center, Malfunction Indicator Lamp on, Erratic fluctuating engine oil pressure gauge, engine crank no start, and engine may run rough or misfire. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Technician should use published Service Information diagnostics for the Diagnostic Trouble Codes that are set. If the diagnosis does not lead to a resolution check for chafing of the engine wiring harness that is routed near the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve. Technician should repair any damaged wiring and fully seat the wire retaining harness. Also the technician should bend the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve gasket over to prevent a re-occurrence.
