The forward sprag is an issue that has been widely discussed on several different boards. There should absolutely be a recall on this issue. The car has less than 100,000 miles but the power train is only covered for 5 years and we have had the vehicle for just shy of 6 years. The fact that this has been a common problem among this particular vehicle should be enough for Chevrolet to take notice and be responsible for their equipment failing.

I am a typical commuter, no hauling, or exceptional strain on the vehicle. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to depend on this vehicle for at least 100,000 miles.

Tahoe LS 4.8L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

Forward sprag broke after pressing accelerator at a stop sign. Truck rolled backwards without any drive. Had to have Chevy tow it to the nearest dealer to fix. Luckily it was still under warranty. Apparently they said this is pretty common for Tahoes. Problem was that I was closing on my home that day and it was raining, bad day.
