I started the engine and applied the windshield wiper to get some frost off of the windshield and suddenly a crack appeared right in front of my eyes, about 12" long. Several days later the crack became larger and larger.
It was definitely not an impact as I was parked next to the house.
I contribute this to the cold weather (first time for this car) expansion retraction of materials when the wipers were applied.
