Our transmission failed us we paid to have it rebuilt and we only got a 6 month warranty on labour and our transmission went again and had to get it brought home but our warranty is out as it was more than 6 months but less than a year later. Now we don't know what to do as we can't afford a transmission every year from now on either.

Uplander LT 6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

My 2005 Chevrolet Uplander is a total lemon. From 25000 miles to 50000 miles the transmission slipped constantly after 50000 the transmission's failed completely. The extended warranty that came with the purchased only covered a used transmission to be put in the car be the Chevrolet dealership. That transmission lasted 12000 miles and totally failed again, the Chevrolet dealership put in another used transmission it failed again after 12000 miles. This time the extended warranty had expired I had to pay $3000 for a transmission dealer to install another used transmission, I was told by them that the car had an internal malfunction that was causing the transmission to fail and this one would most likely fail. After 12000 miles this transmission failed, I went back to the Chevrolet dealer to complain about this car being a lemon and all they would is tell me to purchase their $3900 dealership transmission and hopefully it would not work. I have been laid off from work and can not afford this besides in 3 years this car has had about $14,000 dollars worth of transmission repairs this is insane. I contracted General Motors who finally transferred me to my areas district manager Ashley Smith, she was rude and inconsiderate. Ms. Ashley Smith offered me no cost assistance. I explained to her that I had bought 5 Chevrolet vehicles over the past 20 years, I had refinanced this $30,000.00 uplander van into my home mortgage because I have 3 children, I thought I had a reliable car and I couldn't manage the additional $550 a mouth payments. She coldly told me "well thats to bad but I am sorry but we are not going to do anything to assist you and my word is final so your case ends here and I am closing out your complaint". I then began to bag her because I now have a 3 year old van that is fully paid for that does not work and is not worth fixing and no way to get my children to school tomorrow. Ms. Smith told me that "She was sorry and there was nothing she could do to further assist me and there was know higher level that I could appeal to because she had the final say". I desperately need help right now. I will tell anyone thinking to purchase any Chevrolet product DON'T not in this economy they are totally unreliable and not worth your hard earned money.
