My Chevy Uplander has been to 2 different dealers and the fuel sensor has been changed (supposedly 4 times) all while under warranty. When I took it back for the same issue, they stated that there was nothing wrong or there were no codes and of course it was out of my warranty even the extended one.
It is now in the shop (not a dealer) for the same issue of faulty fuel gauge and fuel sensor readings and I was told that there has been already an issue with this particular problem that GM does not want to admit too for fear of class action or actually having to FIX the real problem. I read on one of the sites that the NHTSA did not recommend a recall because they did not feel that there was a SAFETY concern, however there was another model, Chevy Trailblazer which was experiencing the same thing, stalled on the highway exit ramp and the vehicle was recalled siting a safety concern.
I'm not certain as to what needs to happen for them to see that this is serious and really make them FIX THE PROBLEM.
