Currently my vehicle's air bags are on a recall and I have been told that they only have a fix for the drivers side, not the passenger side. When calling Chrysler to ask what are we supposed to do about this. We were told to 1, not drive the vehicle or 2 not to let anyone sit in the passenger side. That metal shrapnel could seriously injure or kill someone if we were in an accident. Seriously!!!! we have contacted Chrysler several times asking why they are not fixing this or recalling the vehicle before serious injuries occur. The best they could do was give us a code to purchase a new vehicle at cost but guess what. There is no dealership that will take my current vehicle with a recall that can not be fixed and resale it. So pretty much I am stuck in a loan with a vehicle that could injure or kill myself, kids, husband, etc. This should be illegal for Chrysler to do!!

Takata recall: It took over 2 years for my local (only dealer within 100 miles) to repair passenger side airbag recall (repaired 8/19/16). The driver airbag remains defective. I was told by dealer 8/19/16 they had no idea of how long it would take, that they could not put me on a waiting list, that I would have to wait for a follow up recall notice. In the interim I drive this deadly vehicle every day. The recall has been in effect far too long to not have the parts available. I suspect because I have an older vehicle, just like old people who need medical care under obama care, we are being put on the bottom of the list, hoping we either die or our cars are crashed, sold or otherwise disposed of by scrapping the older vehicles. This is ridiculous.

On Saturday, January 23, 2016 we were leaving our home at approximately 6 pm. As we pulled out of the driveway, the airbag light on the dash came on. On our way home later that night and while traveling at between 55 and 65 mph while getting on to I-43 near green bay, wi. Both driver side and passenger side curtain airbags suddenly deployed despite there being no impact of any kind. As designed, the vehicle then shutdown completely, making steering extremely difficult. With considerable difficulty, I was able to maneuver to the side of the rode and come to a stop. Further inspection revealed no exterior damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the closest Chrysler dealer, who then read the codes with their computer. The codes indicated that the vehicle had sensed a "rollover". obviously, no "rollover" had occurred. Chrysler would not repair or replace the airbags or airbag module because they said the vehicle was out of warranty. Chrysler also specifically stated that they were not responsible for repairs or replacement of the airbags because no recall had been issued for the specific airbags that had gone off or for the module. Insurance would not cover cost of airbag replacement or airbag module replacement as it was deemed an "electronic malfunction".
