In a "panic stop " situation the ABS controller modulated and reduced very significantly the braking effort when the driver slammed on the brakes on dry pavement. While braking the driver also maneuvered into the K rail to reduce speed and almost avoided a collision. The air bags did not deploy and were not needed as the final crash was at low speed.
