The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled. The RPM dropped to zero. No warning light was illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been involved in a crash, but the failure was not related. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the AC condenser; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with DTC code P0335, and that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The contact replaced the crankshaft position sensor himself and noticed that the crankshaft position sensor bolt was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. On 02/18/2023 at approximately 5pm, my family was driving on the highway, when unexpectedly, my check engine starts flashing and there is a noticeable decrease in acceleration and my vehicle feels rough/jerking as I head to the nearest exit. My spouse checks the vehicle and believes it is a spark plug/coil issue and we head to the nearest auto parts. The store rep is able to confirm engine misfire on all 4 cylinders, which does seem to indicate that spark plugs/coils should be replaced. We replace the plugs and coils, yet the replacement does not correct the problem. On 02/21/2023, I am able to have a certified mechanic diagnose my vehicle and he performs a compression test and confirms that 3 cylinders are at slightly lower PSI, and the 4th is at 0 PSI. Unknown to me, this means my engine needs to be replaced. The mechanic provides additional information that there are known issues with Hyundai engines and recommends I contact dealer, as he has also had a number of Hyundai owners with the same issue. I did further research and I discovered that my specific vehicle is not included in any current recalls. Yet I also discovered that there is an open Class Action lawsuit to expand the recall, which appears to include the engine in my vehicle. I did contact the Hyundai consumer affairs on 02/21/2023 and I am directed to contact my nearest Hyundai service center. I contacted the Hyundai dealership in Auburn, WA yet after my initial contact the representative fails to return my messages or follow-up. As this appears to be an ongoing issue with certain Hyundai vehicles, I want to make sure that there is a record of this incident for your review. The one ongoing issue I can confirm is that my vehicle appeared to burn oil. Although, it was inconvenient, I was able to get top offs at Jiffy Lube.

Due to a premature engine failure in my 2014 Hyundai Accent, I was prompted that I needed to swap out my engine by Hyundai. I had my engine replaced by a licensed mechanic and we used the same engine recommended by Hyundai. The donor engine came from VIN # [XXX]. The engine was properly installed into my Hyundai Accent in September of 2021. I only put 5,000ish miles on the car and I started hearing a weird sound from my car. I got it checked by 6 different mechanics and they told me the noise that I was hearing is coming from a bad rod bearing. One of the mechanics prompted me to look into recalls for that engine. Low and behold... there is a recall for this engine for the same exact issue I am experiencing!! I looked up the VIN for the engine on Hyundai's website and it is Service Campaign 966. I took my vehicle to Hyundai and filed a claim, but they did not want to do anything for me since I don't have the original car. It bothered me though because even if I did have the original car, they did not seem like they wanted to fix the issue at hand. I kept getting the run around from them without any path forward. My car has been in this situation since March of 2022. The Key of Manchester Hyundai wants me to do another engine swap for $7,000 dollars or to lease a vehicle from them. I have been in a very dismal situation and I don't know what to do or who to turn to. I was at risk when I got the vehicle to them and they allowed me to drive away without even batting an eye. The engine started burning oil at about 105,000 miles, despite it never missing an oil change and never abused. Apparently other Hyundais and Kia-€™s have also experienced early engine failure due to the manufactures poor quality control. It-€™ll burn about a quart of oil about every 1,500 miles. The engine has about 127,000 miles on the odometer.

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds and when sitting idle the air conditioning warning light would flicker the rpm would drop down or go straight to zero, the speedometer would drop down zero and the vehicle began to have hesitation as if it intends to stall. The contact stated that when the issues occurs on the highway they would pull over to the side of the road where the vehicle would then stall once they were idle. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who was not able to find the cause of the failure. The dealer performed an induction service. The failure reoccurred immediately after. The contact stated that they then took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who confirmed the dealer's information. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

While driving to work one day i noticed my oil light flashing. So after work i took my car to Pep Boys to see what was going on with it and why my oil light was flashing. Mechanic asked me to bring it back on Saturday when he can take a better look at why it was flashing. After he did a diagnostics on my vehicle he said he couldnt find anything besides that the engine is burning oil and they couldnt figure out why or where it was that was causing this problem. Told me that i should check my oil everyday to see if its low and fill it if it does get low. My vehicle has 140,000 miles on it and this is the first time any of the flashing lights on the dashboard have come on.

The engine 1st stopped 2 weeks ago at a red light. I say "stopped" because that is exactly what it did "stop, " no warning light or signal. It simply stopped. Had to get pushed off the road. Started after 15-20 min. Took it to mechanic, found nothing wrong. Sensors, gas, electric. "I cant do nothing, no symptoms." 2nd time it stopped while driving. Still rolling, I guided the vehicle of the road. Started after 10-15min. 3rd time at a convenience store called the first mechanic he said to call him when it stopped again. He could use a portable gage while it was in the "stopped" state. But it started again before the mechanic got there so he couldn't use the gage. I called to the company where I bought the car. He sent me to their local mechanic who did the same check as the first; saw no problem. Lastly, it stopped multi pal times in 1 day. Even while turning onto a two- lane side- street, in high traffic! other cars had to stop right behind me in a turning position and go around. Again had to get pushed out of the road. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle. The company.. I bought it went beyond their policy and had their mechanics to check it, still nothing. This is the 3rd week. I don't trust this vehicle to drive it so, the company is sending it to a Hyundai dealership today. I don't know what to do or expect from this whole issue. I am not safe in this vehicle and to pay anything out of pocket is unthinkable. As it is only 4 yrs old. I got it when it was 2 yrs old. The way the vehicle stops is unusual. I don't know cars well but I have not heard of one to "stop" without, "warning before hand". it stops at inopportune times. There is no way of telling when or where it will stop. It stops whenever and wherever without warning. City streets, highways. Not sure freeways; but im not taking any chances.please investigate! this is my first time buying a car. Yuck!
