Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Tucson 6-cyl

Transmission keeps slipping out of gear when you put into gear and car won't move. You stop at a light and even though car is in gear it won't move. Flip it back and forth on auto gear shift sometimes it moves. Other times it changes gears or slips out.

While stopped at a light the engine revved up to a high rate. I tried to put the transmission into neutral but put it into reverse instead, the high rate of revs continued, finally got it into neutral and engine went back to normal idle speed. When light changed put transmission into drive and proceeded home (a few blocks) without incident. This happened about 13 months ago whereby the mechanic replaced the idle speed control and throttle position sensor. Also they did a throttle body and fuel injection service at that time.

The contact owns a 2005 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, she attempted to accelerate further, but the vehicle would not accelerate beyond that speed. The vehicle remained stuck in third gear while the contact attempted to accelerate further. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer at least six times, but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 47,000.
