I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Veloster for my son in 2019. Car ran very good, no major problems. About a week ago my son called and said his car was making a hissing sound. He immediately started to drive the car home when his oil light came on and the pick-up was null. He was able to get the car home and I had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer in Charlotte. They diagnosed the problem as needing a new engine and was quoted $12,000 to repair. Mind you the car only has 109,000 miles and my son had regular oil changes.
His last oil change was in January and when the technician measured the oil, it did not even show up on the dip stick. This happened all of a sudden and there were no signs of an oil leak or oil burning irregularly. Tell me how does this happen to a car that gets regular oil changes and the car is not burning oil! I surmise the engine is faulty and of course, the warranty has run out. So my only options are finding a cheaper engine or purchase another car for my son who recently completed college!
