Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

Amanti 6-cyl

  • 29,904 miles

Sudden acceleration. I was pulling my Kia Amanti (which I love) into a parking stall in a very crowded supermarket parking lot. I was braking to stop when my car accelerated. I did not notice the rpms. But it accelerated hard, and my foot on the brake did not stop it. I plowed into the back of a vehicle in the opposite stall pushing it approx 10 feet before my car also hit 10" cement pole that was there to protect a powerplant (I think) at the edge of the parking strip. The pole stopped my car. There was a couple in the car I hit and a passenger in my car; everyone was badly shaken, but nobody was hurt. If there had not been a pole there my car might have gone on pushing the vehicle I hit until it hit another car or, god forbid, a pedestrian.
