Lifting on the reverse lockout ring of the shifter, the tranmission can be put into reverse and first gear at the same time. This locks up the tranmission. If the vehicle is allowed to move and bias the gears, it is VERY difficult to put the transmission back into nuetral. Bad design by KIA.
